Change coming to Restaurant Akershus

however, if I may make a suggestion:
try Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco. It is not a buffet but the food is excellent, the atmosphere is nice and the staff is very gracious.

Mike, I agree. Restaurant Marakesh is one of those little secret's. We love to go for the lunch special. You get a small appetizer, entree and dessert for one price. It's good food and you can't beat the themeing. :)
Planogirl, that's the way I see it, too.

You're right. I had the lunch special:
a nice salad with a meat roll, 2 chicken shish-ke-bobs, rice and a great apple pastry with sauce and sliced almonds for dessert. All for $14.95. It was all very good and the price was right. The mint tea was also very good.

perhaps the menu will be good as well. you never know. let's be optimistic.

This morning, the suspense was killing me, so....... I called Akershus directly and spoke to a very friendly CM named Wade. Wade told me that they have had a change in plans the change over has been postponed and probably will not go into effect until late May. Seems (at least for some of us) we will still have the opportunity to experience the Akershus buffet at least one more time. Hope they reconsider as this buffet has been one of the favorites of my family.

Jungle Jane,

Thanks for the post. I was just about to cancel my PS for May 12.

I'm crossing my fingers that they haven't changed it by then.

We may just have to eat lunch there even though it's not a favorite of DS'. I would love to enjoy the buffet once more!

So, those of you that are going before the second week in June, could you please let everyone there know that we'd like it to stay a buffet? Thanks! ;) ;) :teeth: (at least until that second week in June, so we can eat there one more time.) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Last Wednesday when JudySue and I ate lunch at Akershus we talked to the manager about the upcoming changes.

1. It will still be an all-you-can-eat buffet at a fixed price.

2. The cold portion of the buffet will be expanded around the sides, to make additional cold items available.

3. The hot items will be served by the waiter/waitress. Service will be similar to that at Ohana or Whispering Canyon; you will be able to ask for additional hot items.

4. It will NOT be changed into anything (especially a steakhouse) as Le Cellier was changed

That's great news! I don't mind that idea at all. Looks like we'll be making a PS for a meal in June. Thanks so much for information!!

This always has been one of my favorites: I actually like mostly the cold stuff. So more cold stuff is great.:Pinkbounc

Good news. I'm going down in the middle of May (probably before the change) but the change sounds good in any event
