Chances of room upgrade at AKL?

We will be at AKL the first week of Jan. 2003. We have booked a standard room but wonder about possible upgrades to savannaha views? Does this happen very often or are most of the potential upgrades just pool views? Thanks for any info!

Well, if you are referring to free upgrades I would not count on being upgraded to either view. Free upgrades are random at best. I always reconmend that a person book the view that they know they will be happy with.

I cannot give you the odds of being upgraded for free because Disney does not work that way. The free upgrades seem to have no rymne or reason. I believe the WDW Marathon is around the 6th of Jan this year.(I am not 100% sure on this date so someone please correct me if my date is incorrect). So this means that the resorts could be pretty full.

I would think about which view at a min you would be happy with and book that view.

I do wish you luck in getting a free upgrade but just do not count on it. Hope you have a great trip no matter which resort or view you end up with.

Why don't you just book a savannah view?

When we went last, Memorial Weekend, we had a standard room booked. The CM at the front desk offered up an upgrade for more $$, and we told her it wasn't in our budget. We did however request a room with bunkbeds. She then offered us a FREE upgrade to a savannah room. Seemed like those games they play at the rental car companys. We did get a savannah view room, but if I was paying for this view, I would have requested a room change. There are savannah rooms on the smaller savannahs ( I believe we had the sunset savannah off of the Kudu trail) We were right above the corral for people in case of an evacuation. It was not a very good viewing room, but still an upgrade from a parking lot view. If you are going to get a free upgrade to savannah these are the views that you'll likely get. The better viewing rooms are probably reserved for those willing to pay for them, and rightly so.
