Chances of Renting BLT 11 months out?

Hey all,

I am planning our family's next trip in late Sep-early Oct. 2015. I have my heart set on a BLT studio, but realize BLT is always in high demand. Does anyone with experience know my chances of getting 2 studios reserved through a rental agency 11 months out? And do you have a specific agency recommendation (i.e. David's or someone else)?

For high demand times and resorts, I would recommend finding an owner at the resort you want and contacting them a couple weeks ahead of time. The agencies don't always have those high demand points because owners can often get more than the $11/point by renting them privately. I have read a few reports of people being on a waiting list for BLT points with one of the agencies.

It also depends what room category you are looking for.
We own at BLT and our experience has been...

Standard view books first.
Theme park view books second.
Lake view is last to book.

Past experience doesn't guarantee the future, but the above has been a pretty common trend.

One thing in your favor is that Poly DVC is on pace it will open next year. New resorts tend to draw some away from other resorts making existing properties slightly easier to book. Slightly higher chance that some BLT owners will book BLT first and then try to switch to Poly whenever that booking window opens.

And the poly DVC opening is definitely good news for me! I just hope I am able to locate the points I need in time either through a company or private owner. Though I have to admit I'd prefer using a company so I can pay with my credit card. Points and cash back and all

Some owners take Pay pal so you could still use your credit card. Just keep looking both on here and there is another board that I use a lot that I can't name but if you google DVC rental from owner it will come up. We rented for BLT this October and I contacted an owner a couple weeks in advance...worked out great!

If you want standard view you need to have things set up in advance of the 11 month window so they are attempting to book it on that day. They are very hard to get year round and especially in the fall.

Most individuals seem to rent for $12/point, while brokers charge $14. That's a 15% discount and I doubt your cashback or points are worth that much.

Sometimes, however, BLT will trade at a premium that far out. Be sure to compare the cost of a standard and lake view studio. Since lake-view is typically available at 7 months, it might actually be cheaper to book a lake-view at 7 months(~$12/point) than a standard view at 11 months (~$14-15/point).

Hopefully, you aren't putting more than two adults in each studio. You might get away with adding two small children, but if you put three or four adults in the studio, they will be miserable. Not sure on your party for this trip.

Very very slim however you would have a good chance of getting a lake view. We have a lake view for 5 nights last august booked at 7 months.
