Do you think my chances of renting points to get a res in studio at either BCV or BWV on Columbus weekend (10/5 to 10/8) are slim or slim to none? :) AKV would be cool, but I don't know if they'll even be ready then?

Well, I just tried that Sunday night alone on expedia, and nothing is available at BW or BC that night, so I guess I answered my own question. :guilty:

Barb, what you find on Expedia or WDW website is totally independent of what you have available at DVC. But, that sure is a good indication of what is available for that weekend. I think there is a 1/2 marathon or 15K race that weekend, plus the Halloween parties, plus the Food & Wine Festival.

Yup. The reason we want to stay there is because of the F&WF. I did try just the first two nights on expedia (Fri and Sat), and there is availability at both resorts, but they want $359 a night. Ouch. Then we'd have to move somewhere else for Sunday night which my husband isn't too fond of.

We have some options. We could stay at AKL or WL for $265 a night, or we could try to rent points for VWL which would be 58 points for a studio--which would be more reasonable. I've only rented points twice from friends, and both of those were just one night. I'd have to do this trip through the DISboards.

VWL is going to be harder to get because it is much smaller than BWV or BCV.

Thanks for the info. :) As soon as I hear from my SIL as to whether she can babysit that weekend, I have to get moving on this. I think we'll go the route of renting points first (1) BCV, (2) BWV and (2) VWL, and then if that doesn't work, it's either WL or AKL.

Too bad I couldn't talk him into doing this trip for Labor Day weekend. Resorts would have been less AND we would have gotten free dining. Of course there is the issue of the hot and humid weather which we aren't fans of.

I just booked that weekend not too long ago. The only hotel with studios was SSR, which I booked ;) All of them had the saturday night available but no one had the sunday, only SSR. But maybe things will open up when AKV booking begins in a few weeks. Good luck with booking!

Thanks Lexxiefern. Like I said, expedia had studios at BWV for Friday and Saturday, so maybe I can talk DH isn't staying there for two nights (through renting points) and then move somewhere else the last night.

Or we could stay at SSR too. This is a grown ups trip, and we both love DD.

The rooms that show up in Expedia will not show up through DVC - if your heart is set on the Epcot area, you'll be paying cash.

The Epcot resorts book quickly for F&W - if they aren't booked before seven months, they are booked up quickly shortly thereafter.

I booked a stuideo for that same weekend at SSR not long ago and couldn't get the Sunday night. :sad2: We are currently waitlisted for it. When it wasn't available, I was willing to take any studio at any of the DVC resorts, and not one was available anywhere.

I have since booked a room with an AP discount just in case the waitlist doesn't come through. :( I'm hoping it does because I really hate to make a change for a 4 day trip.

I made a remark to DH about this and he added that there is also a tech conference that week (Gartner Group). They have it at the Swan & Dolphin and they have about 10k attendees. He received materials that there are blocks of rooms set aside for these attendees at BC and BW.

That stinks! I hope your waitlist comes in for you :wizard: I really like the studios at SSR and was actually happy that was all they had available. If BWV or BCV was, I would of booked those because of the location. I am glad though that I am being "forced" to stay at SSR. This is only a super quick 2 night trip for me to run Race For the Taste, it should be fun.

Wow! I'm really surprised that it's so busy that weekend. :(
