Just wondering what thoughts are on this. I am locking in a trip next year and sort of split on do I borrow to stay RIV or BWV, or do I not borrow and roll the dice POLY 2BR is there to grab.

Downside is if we don't get it then I would have a split stay booked between RIV and BWV.

Honestly, I think it’s just too early to tell until we see how many rooms gets declared and how all the current PVB points in existence play a role.

The good news is that July is a less busy time!!!

^Agree. July 7-31 is the second lowest DVC demand time of the year at WDW but it is too early -- Poly2 is not even on sale yet -- to be making any educated guesses as to availability at 7-months out for next July.

Technically the Poly already has 2 br. villas - they’re called over water bungalows & cost more points per night than most grand villas 😆. It’ll be interesting to see how they ‘price’ the more typical 2 br. villas in the tower.
Assuming you don’t own Poly points & are planning on a 7 month or less booking, & assuming the tower is part of Poly 1, there won’t be many 2 br.s in the new tower & there’ll be a lot of existing Poly 1 owners able to book prior to 7 months, plus as the shiny new DVC resort there’ll likely be a lot of other DVC owners competing at 7 months eager to try out the new resort.
The usual phenomena of declared but not yet sold inventory making availability easier for booking a new DVC resort doesn’t really occur when DVC adds a new building to an already sold out existing resort like the Poly.
You might get lucky & grab a new 2 br. in the tower, but having a back up plan to stay elsewhere is wise.

I also think the opening of epic universe will play into availability which is supposed to be the summer of 2025.

I would think it might increase availability. What about you think more or less?

My reason would be that most who own DVC do so for the proximity and added benefits, plus they have a little more money. Those people will be drawn to booking direct with Universal to get the extra benefits and a guarantee to enter that park possibly.

I think decrease my guess is that universal won’t offer any incentives on a brand new park at least not for the first year. The only way to keep crowds in check is to offer nothing other wise it’s going to be wall to wall people.

I already have several friends( I know extremely small sample size) who usually use there points in December are changing them to July for the sole purpose of going to Epic Universe.

I’m on the other side we almost always use our points in July at WDW next year we’re staying far far away and going to Disney Land instead.

I know it’s not the same, but how would you feel about booking 2 connecting studios at the Poly? I just did that for my July trip.

I booked 6 days at the 7 month window and didn’t have any availability issues. Their studios are around 450 square feet and each had 2 showers. If you are comfortable with that, then maybe you can hold out for booking a new 2 bedroom, knowing you can book the 2 connecting studios as a backup plan.

I would stick with Riviera at that point.

It's a good thought though.
