Chances of a 2 bed value at 7 months?

Hi all:thumbsup2

I am hoping to book a 2 bed value at Animal kingdom for 8 nights at the end of August, but I only have enough AKV points to book 6 nights at the 11 mth window and the remaining nights would need to be booked at 7mths using my BLT points.

Firstly, would you book the first 6 nights that we want or the last 6 nights? (Am I more likely to get a sun/mon at the end of aug or a mon/tue a week earlier at 7 mths or doesn't it matter?):confused3

Secondly, if I book 2 nights at BLT in the meantime at 11 mths so that I have accommodation somewhere, I will be using borrowed points (I've 'overspent' this year:rolleyes1) - if I'm able to subsequently get the extra nights at AKV, which cost less points, what will happen to the extra BLT points I've temporarily used? I've got a Dec UY and our next trip wouldn't be until the following April or August , so will that present me with a problem?

Sorry for so many questions - I hope they make sense?!! :lmao:

There are only 10 two bedroom value lockoffs available. When someone books a studio, that means there's one less two bedroom available. Getting a two bedroom at seven months is extremely unlikely.

If you borrow points, they are stuck in your current use year. If you get the lower cost accommodation in time (more than 31 days out), you can have member services reallocate the points so you use the borrowed points first and then bank your current year points into next year. But that assumes you're still in the banking timeframe, too.

Thank you so much for your reply:thumbsup2

Can I just ask - if (and I know its a big if) I can get the extra nights at 7mths, would MS allow me to free up some of my AKV current year points to bank into the next UY, so that I won't lose my borrowed BLT ones or would that mean I'd put my existing booking at risk whilst I momentarily swapped the points around?

Sorry I know I'm being a pain - just trying to get my head around my options!:thumbsup2

No, you couldn't change out the AKV points for BLT points at seven months out. That would defeat the purpose of home resort advantage. They would only do it if there was availability.

You might need a transfer from another member who owns AKV points instead.

I hate to be negative but I think the odds of the nights you want being available is extremely unlikely. I would be prepared for a split stay just in case.

Ok thank you both - at least I know what I'm dealing with, it's the first time owning at 2 resorts has proved confusing for me to get my head around!;)

I agree, I think it would be a miracle if you got those 2 nights however a split stay would still be an amazing trip. X

At 7 months out for last week in August 2013 and 2014, AKV value 2BRs were gone except for one night and for both years that night was the Wednesday and thus neither booking the beginning nor the ending of the trip 11 months out would have worked. You could risk it and hope to get it, even possibly through wait list at 7 months out, but there is still a significant risk you won't get what you need.

I don't know exactly how many points you will have to use from your AKV and BLT contracts, but if somewhat more than what is exactly needed for the eight nights, possibly you can consider getting a standard view 2BR for the period as a back-up plan by including the possible purchase of 24 one time use points from DVD at 7 months out. Standard view 2BRs are likely to be open for the entire eight nights at 7 months out. Thus, if that reservation is a possibility, you could do the value reservation at 11 months out and have the standard view reservation with one time use points as a possible backup if the remaining nights you need in value are not available at 7 months out.

if I have to split this ressie I would do the 2 first then move and do the 6 nts jmo

Thank you everyone :thumbsup2. I've decided to do a split stay (taking Paults's advice and hopefully having 2 night/6 night split) :thumbsup2

FWIW, I just got 6 nights in an AKV 2 bedroom value for April spring break at the 7 month window today. There were at least two 2 bedrooms available because after I booked mine, I checked and I could still book another 2 br. Someone must have then booked a studio because right now there is 1 bedroom value available for that week.
