I am assuming there is nowhere you can get three connecting rooms, or a suite that connects to a regular room.... Right????
But what has been people's luck with getting connecting rooms ( we are a family with 3 kids so that's pretty much a must) and get a room right next to us for our friends? We have always stayed in a suite, villa or deluxe; but our friends budget doesn't allow so we will be staying at a value next summer...thanks

Right.

But what has been people's luck with getting connecting rooms ( we are a family with 3 kids so that's pretty much a must) and get a room right next to us for our friends?

Two families that we are friends with like to travel together and need 3 rooms at WDW. In 3 trips they were successful once with getting 2 connecting rooms and the 3rd room next to them. Once they got 2 connecting rooms and the 3rd on the same floor. Once the one family got 2 rooms next to each other (adjoining, not connecting) and the 3rd was on the same floor.

When are you going? If its a slower time your chances are better. I'd be more inclined to assume your friends will be near you, but wouldn't bank on next door.

The values are pretty compact so you won't have much of a distance no matter where the actual rooms are.

We've had 4 rooms in a row once (pop cent) and 2 rooms on one hallway, 2 rooms on a nearby hallway once (all star sports).
Make SURE your ressies are linked together, and that you've requested connecting on the two you want connected, and adjoining on the one you want nearby. They try very hard to accommodate you.

In May of 2010 we got two connecting rooms and then one right next door for our family of six. But it was a pretty low crowd time.

I realize that our situation is not the same but to give you an idea of the odds......

Mom and I travel together and need 2 rooms. We always ask for connecting rooms and get them only about 1 out of 3 - 4 times. We are almost always on the same hallway or floor. I have always believed that our poor track record is because they give priority to families with small children (as they should) so I expect that you should at least get your family tgether and friends nearby.

Last summer we stayed at CBR with my brother's family and our parents. I asked for and got all three rooms on the same floor. My brother and I were right next door to each other, and our parents were one room down from my brother. When we checked in, I asked if we were near each other, and the CM at the front desk was SO apologetic that our rooms were not back to back (it didn't bother us-and there was no need to apologize). It just solidified my thoughts that they do go above and beyond to try to accommodate their guests. It can't hurt to ask :goodvibes!!!

December 2012 we were in a similar situation. We wanted 2 connecting rooms because ILs were babysitting while we had a parents night out. It's so much easier to do if they could keep the door open and use their room while the twins slept in ours. Also asked that SIL/BIL's room be next to that.

They honored our request. It was early December and it was low crowds.

ETA: We linked all the reservations in the system, that may have helped ensure the requests were all evaluated when assigning rooms.

There are two buildings at the Poly that will connect 3 rooms. you can call there and check which ones!
