Chance to go to Disneyland

My husband has a conference scheduled in Anaheim next month. We would stay at a Disneyland Resort (is there more than one resort?) The park is opening at night for the conference attendees and guests. Sounds great?
I am terrified of flying and terrified to put DS (6) on a plane. I just keep visualizing the plane plummeting out of the sky or a hijacker murdering my child....I'm already having cold sweats and heart palpitations. I haven't flown since 1997.
Would you go?

Yes. I am terrified of flying as well and I fly from California to go to WDW. IT is tough but I want to not waste my life and I love Disney parks. I still drive the 7 hours to Disneyland though.
Disneyland has 3 Disney Hotels. The Grand Californian is the nicest and most expensive. It is located right next to the new Californian Adventure Park. It took us a minute or so to go from our room and be in the park.
The Disneyland hotel is 3 older towers recently renovated in a classy but fun decor. The grounds are pretty and I love the rooms in the Sierra tower. The walk to the parks is a bit farther and takes 5-7 minutes.
The Paradise Pier Hotel is two towers that are just remodeled with a beach theme. This is the least expensive and least impressive of the three but the views from one side are awesome. Our room on the 13th floor had a great view of California Adventure and Disneyland in the background.
Disneyland is a really beautiful park and many people like it better than the MK. I happen to like both for different reasons. It is great fun to explore everything and relish the differences.

Heck yes, I'd go!! (and this is coming from someone who lives near Dulles airport outside of DC and flew shortly after 9/11). Airplane travel is still statistically the safest way to travel. We fly all the time and security has been very tight so I'm not all that worried about a terrorist.

If you are anxious about flying in general, perhaps your doctor can prescribe something for you to help with the anxiety.

Also, DL has three resorts if my memory serves me correctly. We were just there last month and it was great. Wonderful resorts, nice intimate park, and it was great to see the original (MK.)

Good luck with your decision and let us know what happens!! :sunny:

In a heartbeat. We are going to DL next month.

Yes things can happen in a plane but lots can happen on the ground.

I figure they wouldn't use planes again if they were going to attack.

Just think of the fun you are going to have.

I would go in a heart beat. I haven't been to Disneyland since 1978, it's time!

I'm going to move this to our Community Board for you.

I think you will have a great time and airport security has improved.::yes:: :wave2:

Don't let the fear paralyze you! Talk to your MD about something to help you relax or imbibe heavily while flying! (JK;) ) You will probably never regret the trip.... and if you decide not to go, could you husband use a stand in wife and child... got two people right here more than willing!..................P

Yes, I would go. I too am afraid to fly, but I just keep the mantra that it is safer than driving which I do every day going through my head.

Don't led your darling child miss out because of your fears!

Disneyland is fantabulous and I would not miss the chance to see it! And as far as I'm concerned, you take your life in your hands every time you get behind the wheel of your car, more of a chance of a mishap than on an airplane:D

I would be on that plane in a hearbeat....Good luck with your decision.

:bounce:

Definitely!!! I just went out there for the first time in 16 years... I am not the best flyer in the world, but it was great for me and I would do it, given the right opportunity in a heart beat!

absolutely I would go, but easy for me to say since I have no fear of flying. One thing that may help is to find a direct flight instead of one that is connecting. that way only one up and down each way, the planes are usually bigger, and will get you there quicker.

Yes, I would go! I don't like flying either. But think of your reward for getting through the flight: Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio, Indian Jones, etc. These are my favorite Disney rides and they aren't at WDW.

Tell your husband to be in charge of your son and you just sit with the headphones on and watch the movies. You can do this!!!!!

YES GO!!!

I'm really afraid of flying too. I told my Dr. about it and she gave me xanex for the flight. It TOTALLY helped!! It completely took away my fear.
