Chamois vs Towels

My DH read in a travel magazine about using chamois for drying off your body. He has used these for years on his cars and never thought of using them on the human body. :earseek: He thinks we should buy them for our up coming cruise. He said they are small, lightweight and you can put the wet chamois back into it's storage case and they come in a bunch of different colors. He thought this would easier than carrying a half dozen towels on our snorkeling excursions. Then he goes on to say, when we get home we can throw one in each car. I'm seeing an ulterior motive here. ;) What are your thoughts or comments? Has anyone ever used these for this purpose?

We got some from REI. I've decided I prefer a towel though and only use mine for my camera gear or a hair towel now.

Swimmer's and diver's use them all the time at meets. They work and are great when you don't want to soak two or three towels. They are also good for backpacking- think space and weight. I think I would still prefer a real towel if I had the choice.
