Chairs for Wishes at Poly

Hi all! We are planning to do our first trip to the Poly beach for Wishes on our upcoming trip. We drive down so will have our car which always has two camp chairs in the trunk. We were planning on trying to find a chair or something to sit on that's already there, but if there isn't has anyone ever brought their own chairs to sit in? Obviously we would set up so as not to block anyone's view, but I didn't know if this was a "done thing". If anybody has any experience, let me know!

We have seen the fireworks many times from the Poly beach, even when we were not staying there. Never occurred to us to bring our own chairs. There are quite a few places to sit, including on the grass. I would think that if you get there a little early, you would not have any trouble finding a place to sit. Good luck.

I think I would feel bad about taking chairs away from the guests staying at the Polynesian. Especially those that don't have the Lagoon/MK view from their hotel room.

I can see your point (although I'm not sure I agree since viewing Wishes from the Poly beach is open to all) which is one of the reasons I asked the question about bringing chairs of my own.

I'm toying with watching from the POLY and if I was driving I'd bring my own chairs, but I'm flying so I'll be either sitting in a chair that is there, or if they are all taken I'll be leaning somewhere. Probably the latter as I don't expect to be at the beach super early.

But I say good idea! Bring your own chairs.

Officially the beach area is for Polynesian Resort guests only and use to be posted. It is rarely enforced except on big holidays but bringing a fold up chair through the lobby may be a little obvious.
There are plans that during the future renovations that adds a fence to the pool area that it may also limit guests without a room at the Polynesian will not be able to access the beach either. This way they will not have to rely on CMs to monitor and enforce the rule.

Aside from "used to be posted" where are you getting that the beach is off limits? We are often encouraged by Poly staff to visit the beach for the fireworks.

I always walk down to the beach when we eat at 'Ohana. I have never seen a sign about the beach or had anyone say anything.

Does that apply to all resorts or only the Polynesian? I'm staying at the Yacht Club next week. I know there will be "non-guests" walking around the beach area.

I think at the YC/BC, it's just the pool area that is reserved for YC/BC guests only. I think the sand area near the bay is for anyone, though not 100% sure on that. I think the problem at Poly is the overwhelming amount of complaints they get from Poly guests that they can't get a great viewing spot for Wishes due to non-Poly guests being there. I have not experienced that personally, but I have experienced having a TPV patio room at Poly and having our view obstructed by non-Poly guests sitting and standing in the grass in front of our room. I'm not complaining, but I'm just trying to explain what the issue might be with non-Poly guests watching Wishes from there. I understand why people would want to be there because we have never seen a better display of Wishes than what we saw from our patio each night -- it's spectacular! Hopefully in the future Poly can solve the problem by having a separate roped off area for non-Poly guests -- that way everyone can enjoy the show and be happy!
