OK, I'm BIG, Pooh sized at least and a lot taller at 6'5". So most wimpy plastic chairs scare me. Even light weight aluminum ones aren't much better. Chairs that are 6" off the ground are almost impossible to get up from. The wife has the same issues except the tallness one.

I'd been wondering about what to use/take to Vero this summer for our 1st stay there. Didn't want to depend on their rental chairs being adequate.

Monday night we went to Costco and they had some decent looking square tube Al chairs that fold pretty flat for 19 bucks each. I went ahead and bought 1 to take home and try. With Costco they have a great return policy, if it didn't suit it wouldn't be an issue.

When we got home I took it out of it's full body plastic wrap and tried it on for size, fit great. Now I have something light weight but sturdy and portable. After I buy another for the wife.

Anyone else wanting an easy to pack chair for VB or HH check out Costco.

We have chairs from Costco also and love them. We also got an umbrella from Costco, a little fabric/tube table from Walmart, and a little wire/tube 2-wheeler folding cart from Staples. I also have a boogy board.

I use a bungee cord to strap the chairs, umbrella, table, and boogy board to the cart. Unless you're in a cottage there is always elevator access (at VB). So it is an easy wheel to the beach with everything on the cart. Having your own chairs and umbrella will save you $25 a day.

Have a great trip to VB. We're switching things up and heading to HHI this June. :beach:

I'm staying at Vero Beach for the first time in early October. I can't believe they charge a chair and umbrella rental fee - is this true?

If yes, does any one know the daily rental rates??

Best wishes,
Dave

It is true. Actually, it isn't Disney it is some other business that rents, chairs, umbrellas, boogy boards, cabanas, jet skis, etc. How/why this is the case I am not sure other than hearing something about all coastal beaches being public property. So Disney does not actually manage or control the beach itself.

It has been so long I can't remember rates... sorry for the shocker.
