I went to REI to get a pair of Teva's. I noticed the Chaco sandals came in wide width, so I asked the sales clerk about them. I just wondered if anyone's tried them? Are the worth the $90 price? I usually wear Birkenstock's, so this price is not too scary. The neat thing is the soles and straps can be redone. The web site is: http://www.chacousa.com/

I love my Chaco sandals! I too usually wear Birkenstocks, and this summer I had a clerk suggest I try a Chaco. I bought one of the hiker Chaco sandals, and my feet feel as good, if not better, than my Birkenstock. I tried Teva sandals - they really don't have enough support for my feet (which tend to pronate or roll inwards). Bought my DD (age 12) a pair too, and she wore hers all summer - she preferred the Chacos to her Birkenstocks, too. We also really like the adjustable strap on the Chaco. There are different levels of support in the Chaco footbed, so try on a few different styles and see what you like - as I indicated, I preferred a more rugged hiking footbed than a casual sandal.
