Cha-Ching!! Doing the Ebay Dance!!

I have a mint collection of Strawberry Shortcake dolls and MLP's from when I was younger. My grandma won't give them to me though because she thinks I'll sell them on ebay LOL. (I probably would since I have a son).

That's essentially what I did :) I used to go to garage sales, etc. and find the ponies, clean them up, then display them in a special room. It got to be creepy after awhile since they all sort of...stared at you :)

I guarantee you if you'd sell both the MLP and Strawberry dolls, you'd make quite a bit of money.

Darn, wish I still had my Strawberry Shortcake stuff. I had several dolls and the little cart.

I keep thinking I'm going to run out of stuff to sell, but I haven't yet. I collected Cherished Teddies in the past, so I'm pulling the ones that I don't want anymore. They don't sell for their full value, but at least it's cash.

I also have come up with another thing to sell. Christopher & Banks clothes. I've noticed that their sweaters seem to sell well. Last week I went and bought two sweaters that were marked down to $6.99 and $9.99. I listed them at $12.99, and I've already had one sell with Buy it Now for $19.99! Whoa, baby!!:bounce: I will probably go shopping again today or tomorrow. :hyper:

I had a funny experience one day at a bargain bookstore. I found JoAnna Lund dessert cookbooks, and they were marked down to $3.99. I wanted to buy the whole lot they had, but I decided to buy 2. The checkout man asked if they were gifts, and what was I supposed to tell him? "Uh, no....I'm going to take advantage of your really low price and sell them for more, sucker." :p I told him that they were not gifts. He had to think I was weird buying two identical cookbooks for myself. ::yes:: I did end up selling one for $8.00 and one for $6.00.

Sorry to ramble on...

Love hearing what everyone else has had success with!

My best sell so far was when people down the road set a bunch of stuff on their lawn with a "free" sign.

Most was old junk, but I spied this box with old 16mm films in it. Something told me to take it.

One of the films was a Johnny Cash film and it sold for $246.00!!! Not bad for a free item off someone's lawn. :)

That was used for souvenier and lunch money on our December trip.

You gotta love ebay!

If you guys notice, right now Target has 3 exclusive MLP Easter ponies right now. The 3 Christmas ones are in the $90 range now. I grabbed some for my collection...maybe I'll sell them after Easter :)

I love these stories.

I went to a moving sale of a woman who had a box full of old books. Among them were a group of OLD Dr. Seuss books. I asked her about them and she said they were her books when she was a child and she was in her 40s!

I asked her how much for the bunch, she said $5.

I bought 6 of them and they sold from $10.50 to $50.00 each!

She also sold me a unique nursery room clock for $2 that sold for $70!

:bounce: :bounce:

WOW!!! I wish I lived further South. Yard sales don't start around here for another month and a half. I love hearing these stories.

Great item to pick up at their after-clearance sale! Easter items will go 50% then 75% then 90%. If you want the exact dates, pm me.

Sadly, items like that fly off of the shelves here in Orlando :) Too many tourists :) Hehehe :) Gotta grab it when you can!

You gotta love ebay. I sell alot of disney items and disneyana.

You can even buy items at full price and make big bucks. I recently bought 3 limited edition WDAC pieces each one was 250.00. Well I just sold my 1st one for almost 700.00, so 425.00 profit and 2 left to sell. They keep going up in price. If they hit over 1000.00 a piece I might sell my one from my own collection.

I just love ebay!
:D

I too love ebay. I was in Toys R' Us right around Christmas time, and they had the disney castle tree topper on closeout from last years stock (Christmas 02) for $1.99 regular price was $29.00. I bought all 13 of them. I have one put up for my DD birthday cake and I sold the others on ebay for anywhere from $20 to $25 a piece. not too bad huh? I am getting ready to list a ton of my DD clothes (24m to 2t) my user id is piercedqt78.~KPmom :smooth:

Do you all shows photos of everything? Do you have an easy suggestion for that. I am uploading to AOL FTP site and it takes forever per picture.

Would love any suggestions.

I just use Ebays picture service and usually show one pic, unless it's a big ticket or detailed item, I'll pay the extra and upload a couple. I agree that AOL's FTP is so slow and I don't even know how to insert the pics in the auction after that. I think I did it years ago and the AOL site was always down so half the time my pics didn't show up.

totaly off topic, but my DH loves to find pictures of items for sale that have peoples feet in them. They put the item on the floor and stand over it and snap the picture, and a nice photo of their toes too. LOL Also there is a longstanding rumor that there was a man that was selling a silver tea serving set and he took the photos nude, and was showing the tea set and his reflection. ~KPmom

KPmom I saw that picture! Now if it was actually on ebay I don't know but it was quite scary. LOL
