The Characters(yes, we are all real characters. Just ask the rest of the family)
Tausha (GrowinupDisney) my DSD, will be known as TGB or Tour Guide Barbie. This is an inside joke.
Chris, my DSIL will continue to be Panda.
Julie, my DW, will be known as Nala, because according to her, she is most like Nala.
Me. I will always be me. What else could I be but what I am? A Dude.
The phone rings. Its the Big M telling us Up and at em! in a very cheery voice that is waaaay to early in the AM. I count my blessings that it wasnt Commando Nikki. I really feel that someone would have needed to die at that point. We all start to get up.
Animal Kingdom today according to The Worksheet. Cool. Nala has been looking forward to going for a while. She knows that this is headquarters for anything to do with The Lion King. We took the car to AK and caught the tram to the park entrance. Very reminiscent of Disneyland (which by the way has a Timon and Pumba parking lot). We have missed the park opening but on account of catching up on sleep, it was OK. Besides, AK wasnt really that crowded anyway.
As we are walking up to AK, Nala sees Timon and Rafiki signing autographs and posing for pics. As she is all excited and gets in line with all of the little kids waiting, the CM handler announces they will be leaving for a break in 5 minutes. Heartbreak. There are 6-8 kids in front of Nala. Not a good way to begin the day. The handler starts to lead Timon and Rafiki away. Nala turns to TGB and says, Did you know I am most like Nala? For more on this please see Shhh!! Its a Surprise Chapter 7:Hes not a pervert, he just wants to see your pins by GrowinupDisney.
Now we head into the park and go to Kilimanjaro Safari. This is by far one of the best attractions Disney has to offer. We have all talked about going on a real safari, but this is as close as we will get for now. This ride is fun in that you are participating in an animal rescue and poacher arrest. Live long and prosper Baby Red.
After the excitement of the safari we head over to the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail. This is very cool if you like animals. It is short walk around and you get to see some of the smaller critters you wouldnt be able to from the safari truck. This a good opportunity for pictures for those of you with cameras. Birds, gorillas, meerkats, etc.
Now, from the time we arrived at WDW, TGB and Panda have been looking for lanyards to hold their tickets and fastpasses. Thus began the Great Pin Collecting and Trading Extravaganza. Nala and I already had lanyards from Disneyland proclaiming us Annual Passholders and we have collected pins for several years. This was all new to Panda. After today Pandas head was on a swivel looking at peoples lanyards. He especially looked at CMs lanyards when he found out that they have to trade with guests when asked. This was the ultimate for him. Panda actually bought the same pin for himself several times over the course of the week due to his trading it away for others.
We did all of the rest of the major attractions in AK and started for the door. Wait. Stop. Shop. We spotted some Lion King merchandise not already owned. A little while later, a box is on its way to California with a new Lion King pin box inside. It is very nice if I do say so my self. Off to the Poly.
We head back for a short rest and then we are off to MGM.
