CG Question

I have booked CG on Sat Jan 7th for 6 PM. Once I saw the Jan hours, I asked the Concierge to try to change the time to 7:30 PM, Wishes is at 10:00 Pm that night. We wanted to see it from the balcony. Now, I was confused by message that I recieved, and hoped some experienced DIS'er could help. She made the ressie for 9:10 PM, and did keep the earlier one for now. She said that we need to be having the meal in order to view Wishes from the balcony. We have a 4 year old with us, and while she is a night owl...no way would we try for such a late meal. Before I respond, does anyone know if we need to be in the process of having our meal, or can we be finished and then watch the show. We asked for 7:30, and I do not know if CG is booked at that time, or if we are trying to manage something not allowed. I think that she made the ressie so that we will be in the middle of dinner, not at the end. I guess I just do not understand how CG manages their customers in order to allow them to enjoy the fireworks display.I would appreciate any help before I respond back.

If you have an experience such as dh and I did in July, you won't even be seated before the fireworks begin!! We had an ADR for 8:20. We waited nearly an hour before we were seated. Our appetizers were delivered AFTER the fireworks had begun. Fortunatley, we did not have any of our children along!! Despite being nightowls, they would have been miserable due to the long wait.

My hunch is that you can enjoy the fireworks even after dinner. I understand that if you have your dinner "receipt" you can even leave the restaurant after dinner and come back for the fireworks later.
It so happens that we always seem to be in the middle of dinner when the fireworks start, but I'm sure others have different experiences and someone will be able to tell you "for sure"!!
