During the first part of the day we will be at Hollywood studios then back to Fort Wilderness to relax. For the evening we are going back to Hollywood studios. Should we go to CG or FF on our way back to the park. Which would be more convienent? We will have our almost 5 year old with us.
Thanks in Advance :)

I personally would just stay at Hollywood Studios unless I was going there for multiple days. Going back to the resort would be a lot of lost time for me. My plan is to go to Hollywood studios in the morning and leave by 5pm. That gives me enough time to use fastpasses I'll get in the morning and see shows, then take the boat from there to Flying Fish, then spend the evening in Epcot. On another day, I'll arrive to HS just for the evening for less popular rides/shows, fantasmic, and Osborne Lights.

The boat ride does take a long time... but it is a nice ride. The one time we went on the boat, we waited about 20 minutes then it was about a 20 minute or so boat ride to get to International Gateway in Epcot. I hear you can walk from HS to Epcot in about 10-15 minutes, but I think that would be harder with children who don't walk fast, and would tire out from all the additional walking.

Disney transportation:
California Grill - Boat from FW to CR then bus to DHS
Flying Fish - Bus from FW to DHS then walk or boat to/from Boardwalk

Driving a car:
CG - Drive from FW is very quick, but you could always use the boat from FW to CR to and from then drive from FW. I have not parked at CR so I am not certain of distance to entrance although you could use valet and not have to worry about it.

FF - I would not park at Boardwalk unless you use valet. It is a very long walk from the parking lot to the resort. I would suggest driving to DHS and then walk/boat to/from Boardwalk.

I am really not certain which would be more convienant for you as I do not know what type of time constrant you will have and if you would rather have a shorter transport time from FW to dinner or from dinner to DHS. Also, if you are using Disney transportation, then you would need to take into account the time to get around FW by either walking, bussing or use of golf cart.

Flying Fish Cafe might be more convenient, you could take a bus from Ft. Wilderness to the Boardwalk resort,

Tobi's post already lists out transportation options but just to confirm - there is no bus from FW to the Boardwalk, closest would be DHS from FW. There isn't resort to resort bus transportation.

Thanks, I really do want to have the break at the resort during the day because we plan to go back for the fantasmic show at night. I think it would be too much for my son to be gone from 8am until after the night show.

Or maybe I will just give us a later start in the morning - go to the park then to an early dinner then back to the park. That might be a better idea.
I am thinking out loud - I know I still have a year but there are the little details I like to plan :)
Thanks!

I don' know what I was thinking.... you could take a bus to Epcot, not the Boardwalk resort. I like getting to Hollywood Studios right at opening. DS and I like the Toy Story Mania ride but can't stand the 1 hour wait in line. So we go at park opening (or morning extra magic hours) and ride as much as we can and get fastpasses as soon as we can to use later.

If Toy Story is important to you, I'd do that and take a mid-day break. You can use your fastpasses when you get back!

Thanks, I think I will do the mid-day break. That is what we always did when I was a kid. And now I have my own family - plus my whole family is going, sisters and there kids and husbands my parents and in-laws.

Some restaurants will we go our own way but I think we will all be back to give the kids a break and take a swim. It always worked well years ago. Plus I do not ned to go go go - I plan on going back to Disney every other year. Plenty of time to see and do everything. I want to have fun and take our time.
