Ceremony at GF Marina

Things to keep in mind....

The viewfinders can not be moved and they are ugly and in awkward spaces. I tried for weeks to figure out how to make it look good--and there was no way.

You'll be right outside the food court.

Then they told me they won't even ask the Grand Floridian to use it unless you have 50 people or more--after I had it on hold to book for 25 people.

I think it's the cost of any other venue... but it will cost loads in floral to fix it up.

Thanks for your reply, really appreciate your advice. There will only be 19 of us so that's us out right away. Just been trying to think of alternatives just incase the worst happens because of all this construction and that poor bride who has to move her ceremony with just 4 weeks to go! Can't believe all this is happening, it's really sad :sad2:

Sago Cay is another option.... that's where I was going to have mine before we switched! It's more private and has a great view of the castle without the boats!!

Thanks, we are having our DP there later in the evening :) Where did you switch to in the end?

we were having family drama, and there was so much drama around the venues.... we said forget the family/friends wedding in november 2012.... and we switched to the memories for just the two of us on the poly beach---we're 10 weeks away!!! i feel like i made the best decision as i was trying to stay positive about all the construction--but i think it really is going to be worse than they made it out to be. i'm glad i won't have to go thru the anxiety of watching it for another 14 months!

Wow, these 10 weeks will fly by! Good for you for having the wedding you want and not all the family drama :goodvibes The beach sounds wonderful. I have to admit I am EXTREMELY nervous about this construction....I feel like it's really spoiling what should be an exciting and happy time. Instead I'm feeling anxious and worried about what will happen next :sad1:

Do you have any idea how many people Sago Cay holds? We have switched from the pavilion to the Marina but are so unsure about that location with the restaurant behind us.

Hi. Anyone happen to know costs for using the GF Marina for ceremonies? Thanks! :thumbsup2

I know the Marina isn't meant for small ceremonies but I would still consider it and ask your planner. With all the issues at the Wedding Pavilion they may be willing to work with you a little bit. We were told they were working on some new location ideas to offer people. This was the one they showed us granted we have 85 people but its still worth asking. This location is beautiful you still have the castle and the water and the monorail off in the distance. The only thing is the noise from the restaurant behind us. Our planner told us they would do everything they can to keep things quiet. I know someone mentioned the view finders and I agree they are ugly but at the same time there is so much uncertainty with the pavilion that we are just trying to look past this stuff. They mentioned putting our flower arrangements that we are using as centerpieces in front of each finder. As much as I would like these removed it is kind of part of the whole marina experience I guess.

i think if you spaced it right.... you could really pack some people into sago cay.

it's oddly shaped, but since there wouldnt be tables, etc..... it might work!! i really liked that it was private!! i think with tables it was a max of 75. i was doing ceremony and reception there for 25ish and there was supposed to be enough room.

Oh ok I was just looking at pictures it looks much more private than the marina. We have 85 people I wonder if they would be able to do this. I'm going to talk to my planner about this. Thanks!
