I was thinking of doing a short trip to Toronto with my almost 6 year old, we would be taking the train from Windsor. I've been to Toronto quite often but never to these places - I'm trying to make this a "kid vacation." Any tips/pointers or suggestions? I'm trying to make this as economical as possible.

Centerville Island is a good idea, as is Ontario Place. And, even the CN Tower. They are all located downtown and are easy to get to by bus and subway. I haven't been, but I hear that Centerville and Ontario Place are really good for little ones especially.

DH and I went to the Science Center a little while back and actually found it pretty boring with exception of the IMAX. It is also located quite a distance out of downtown and may be a little longer and annoying to get to without a vehicle.

Ontario Place is alot of fun, especially for a six year old. YTV.com has discount tickets available for download, you have to click on "contests" to find the link. The science center is fun, I took my five year old last June. They have a special "Kidspark" area that the kids can explore many different things, like blowing huge bubbles with your fingers, building a big house with foam blocks, diverting water, playing music etc.

Centre Island is lots of fun for younger kids (and us older ones too) Most people pack a picnic to bring over. Ferry ride is fairly inexpensive (around $3 I think). You can find discount coupons from Attractions Ontario, Shoppers or Caa for your ride tickets at Centreville. There's a nice, quiet beach area, bike rentals or boat rentals. Lots of things to choose from. It's a large place to walk around so rent a bike if you're planning to explore the island - I love looking around the lovely neighbourhood that's there.

Centreville is a real gem. Get an early ferry over and be one of the first in the park. Walk on to most rides for the 1st hour.

Science Centre is good. Most large cities have one . Worth the trip if you've never been.

Haven't been to Ontario Place for a few years. Last time I was there it was showing its age. Kids loved the water area.

Wonderland is far far far from Disney quality but I enjoy the water park. Might be a bit out of your way if you're stuck with the crappy TTC. Montreal's public transit is way better.

Don't know if your little one is a hockey fan. Hockey Hall of Fame is right downtown.

Harbourfront is always nice for a walk and there maybe some activities at the York Quay that may be of interest.

I have to say that Misslissa seems to be misinformed as the science centre has tons to too,.
As a parent who has passes to Centerville, Ontario Place, and the Science Centre we have tons of fun, particular at the scienece centre.
Ontario is Place has more to do than Centre Island.

The ROM can be a lot of fun for kids, too. The Science Center is sort of hit-and-miss. There's lots to do, but oftentimes we find a lot of exhibits closed or under repairs.
