Dh has his little heart set on a Central Vac for the new house. We got what I think would be a pretty reasonable quote today but I was wondering if anyone has had this done?

DH really likes the idea ( so he can do the vacumming now, right?? :thumbsup2 )

Any ideas/opinions?

I have no idea how the new central vacs are, but my mom had one in her house. We had the big canister in the basement with an "outlet" on each floor. We had a very long hose that plugged into the outlet, that had attachments.

It was ok. I personally think I like having a regular upright or canister vac instead. The hose was a little cumbersome to drag around and maneuver (sp).

We had it added to our exsisting condo maybe 8-10 yrs ago. Eureka canister in basement. 3 outlets (one on each floor). $1000

We were to move this year, & we had decided NOT to put central vac in new house. Honestly, lugging that 30 feet of heavy hose & having scrap against door jams is something I can do without.

Late last year, I bought a nice light weight Sebo K series canister vac ($800) and that's what I use now all the time.

My central vac does have awesome sucking power, but that hose is a pain to deal with with 3 levels of living.

Binny, I loved our central vac in our house there in Idaho. I don't have it anymore. The last time I looked they were rated the best for families with allergies. Did you sell your house? :wave2:

We did!!! :)

Different house though that we are moving too. Closer to the Mall. Over by Capital High do you remember where that is?

Anyway, did YOU get out just in time try to catch channel 7 news online, Banbury totally flooded last night! Really scary. I think youre old neighbourhood got some water too but not as bad.
How are you liking your new home?

Thanks, I think we will go for it, he thinks its great. I dont care either way so he can have it lol.
