Page plus cellular. Prepaid runs on the Verizon network. Several plans to choose from. My DH uses the $12/month plan and mine is the $30/month plan.

The biggest questions are what provider are you with now? Are you happy with your current phone and coverage area? How much talk and how much data do you use?

If you're happy with your current network and phone, finding a prepaid that allows you to bring your current phone will be the cheapest option.

The previous poster mentioned Page Plus Cellular on the Verizon Network.

AT&T - Gophone is $60 a month for unlimited talk/text and 2gb data.

If use use a lot of data/texts and not many minutes. T-mobile has a $30 plan with 100 mnutes/ unlmited texts and 5gb high speed data.

Straight Talk from Walmart, has prepaid for $45 a month Unlimited talk/text/ 2.5GB high speed data before throttling. But they have had some issues recently when they were still unlimited data that I'm not sure they've completely worked out yet.

Gophone, T-Mobile Prepaid, and Straight Talk with AT&T sim offer 4g-LTE data. Currently noone but postpaid has access to Verizon's 4G-LTE network if speed is a concern.

I'm current on ATT after switching from Straight Talk. I buy discount refills online to bring the cost down. I watch the message boards to see if straight talk

Just be sure to check the fine print on any super cheap deals. Metro PCS, for instance, has strict restrictions on how you use data.

Virgin Mobile.....prepaid.

I pay $30 a month for the iphone. Unlimited text, unlimited data, and 300 talk minutes per month. Love it!

I researched until I was blue in the face. We decided on Consumer Cellular. It runs on the AT&T network. We picked this one for the rates and the ability to make it a family shared package for $10 per month for each extra line.

First you really need to find what carrier works best in your area. We have always been stuck with Verizon, no other carrier works at our house. Last year we switched from VZ to Page Plus because they use VZ's network.
I pay $12 a month for myself, that includes 250 texts, 250 talk minutes and 10 MB of data. I keep some money on my account in case I run over my texts (has only happened 2 times). I rarely use the data, I just use wi-fi if available.
My dh and dd pay $30 a month, and it includes 3000 texts, 1200 minutes and 500 MB of data.
My dses have dumbphones and I pay $10 every 120 days (calls are .10 and texts are .05). They do not use their phones, at all.

Me, dh and dd have phones that I have purchased on ebay. You can use any 3G Verizon phone (except the pre-packaged pre-paid ones). You can use some 4G phones but they have to be flashed to Page Plus. Iphones are not "allowed" but can be activated.
The one caveat is that PP does not support any phone not purchased through them or one of their dealers. If you have an issue you are on your own to fix it. If you are using an iphone, it can be de-activated at any time (so it has been said, but I have never read where it has actually happened).
Hope that helps :goodvibes

Yes...:thumbsup2 great service.
How budget is budget,OP? WIth Pageplus you don't get unlimited data, you just get verizon quality service at prepaid prices- I use a 29.95 month plan which gets 1200 talk minutes,3000 texts, and some data,I don't recall how much, but I usually turn the data off in my phone anyway.... I can easily turn it on when needed- you have to buy their phone, or bring your own verizon 3g or less phone with you...
Virgin Mobile is cheap, and you get LOTS of data if you want it, but much less talk time...
Straight talk gives you a lot for 45.00 per month, but I hear a lot of negatives about them.... (I don't like tracfone)

forgot to add my ds has a dumbphone, I buy a card for 80.00,it's good for a year, and 2000 minutes for the phone....that is the best price I've found for any service....

i have an older iPhone. using tmobile, but it's pricey now. would like to be able to use my iPhone with page plus or another and would like to be at more more than $20 to 25 pper person each month.

you can only use verizon brand phones on PP.... check out howardforums .com for lots of info

You cant use a Tmobile (GSM) phone on Page Plus, it has to be a Verizon (CDMA) phone.

Can't you just do Tmobile pre-paid?
Have you checked Net10, Tracfone, etc? Also, what do you want for $20-$25 in terms of number of text, minutes, data? You could probably pay around $25 a month for tracfone (or anyone else) but that may get you nowhere near the amount of talk minutes, text or data that Virgin Mobile (for example) offers for $35 KWIM. If you are paying X amount per text or talk minute, $20-$25 a month may not be that much and end up really costing more depending on your usage.

If use use a lot of data/texts and not many minutes. T-mobile has a $30 plan with 100 mnutes/ unlmited texts and 5gb high speed data.

This sounds ideal for my DS...I can't find it on their site though. Could you please post a link? Thank you!

There are just so many out there right now! And new ones seem to be cropping up daily.

I find out most of my info on HowardForums.com.

We have tried a few of them. If you can get Sprint where you live, the pre-paid plans that use their towers seem to offer the cheapest. RepublicWireless, RingPlus, and some others.

I had StraightTalk and it is ok, but if you have an iphone they have issues.

There are plusses and minuses to all the prepaid plans. You will have to research.

I currently have GoPhone's $60, one son has RingPlus's $10 plan, my parents have T-mobile's pay as you go pay per minute plan.

Dawn, what kind of issues are there with Straight Talk and iphones? We are looking for a prepaid plan for an iphone that uses CDMA towers. Thanks for your help!

I'm getting dd a ST iphone to use on Page Plus. The only one that will work is the 5. I figured if I had issues on PP I could just activate it on ST. Now after seeing the pp's post I'm not sure.

I have MetroPCS and have been happy with them. The service isn't good in isolated areas but in the city/suburbs and along major highways it is just fine. Even driving from Detroit to Orlando down 75 I didn't run into any no-service areas that I noticed. And I do believe you can bring your T-Mobile Iphone to their plans.

Their base rate is $40/mo, with a $5 per line discount if you have multiple lines on your plan, and that's tax inclusive so for you and your DH the bill would be a fixed $70 every month. They do throttle data speeds and you can pay more for a higher throttling threshold but I'm not sure of the exact cutoffs because that's never been an issue for me.

Most of the problems are with the GSM varients of the Iphones and bringing your own phone phone for use on AT&T or T-mobile towers with straight talk. First, you need to jailbreak or do what's know as the sim swap method to set the APN. Even then, Apple seems to do an update that switches things back to the native carrier.

If you're buying a Straight Talk Iphone, which uses Verizon's towers you shouldn't have these problems.

So far I have had really good luck with PagePlus been using the $30 per month 1200/3000/500 plan. It has been very reliable and works well with a Verizon iPhone 4s.

We currently have iPhone 4s phones with Verizon, with one year remaining on the contract. When that contract is up, can we take our phones to PagePlus and get the pre-paid service or did buying the phones under contract some how void that?
