What types of plans are available on the Wish? Really just need for 1 day as my flight check in is a sea day. TIA

You don’t really need cell service to check in for a flight, right? Just wi-fi.

I believe the cheapest current rate is $12 if you buy by the day. But that is the “Stay Connected” package, and I think that only allows you to use social media and messaging. Not sure if it will accommodate a mobile app. If not, then the next step up is $24/day for “Basic Surf.”

Last I heard, they might still be offering by-the-megabyte access @ $0.25/MB. If you are just getting on to check in, and that’s all, then maybe that’s the way to go (if available).

But…..are you flying with Spirit, Southwest or another budget line? ‘Cause if you are flying a legacy carrier like American or Delta, you don’t have to check in the day before.

Perhaps the Wonder still has the old $/MB service? The others all have the new, pay-by-day services.

For what it's worth, the $24/day "basic surf" plan is indeed very basic. It's slow and the connection is spotty. Quite overpriced for what it is, but I guess it's fine for checking in for a flight.

If you're flying Southwest, you can splurge for EarlyBird and eliminate the stress of checking in a day early.

We just have someone back home check us in. Our daughter does that for us.
Sorry, no internet wifi, or cell use for us on our cruise.

Yep .... $25 per person and they automatically check you in at 36 hours ......

they say price starts at $15 but I've always seen the max: $25

does not guarantee group A ..... but .....

But if more than one person is flying, the DCL Basic Surf will be cheaper then, right?

I like what @tvguy said. Just have someone at home check in for you, if you’re using a carrier where checking in early gives you some advantage. The boarding passes will be waiting for you in the app when you arrive back in port and your normal cell service is available again.

Yes, but you have to remember to do it and you have to hope that you've got a good connection at just the right time. I've had Southwest flights where checking in 15 minutes after the window opened was enough to get a late B or early C boarding number. It's not a great system.

Yeah, I’m not a fan. I would put up with it in the past when their fares were consistently much cheaper than legacy carriers, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

I’ve heard that if you go to guest services they will check you in but I’ve never tried it.

I started paying for the jump after a flight where I was hitting the 'check-in' button at exactly 24 hours and got group C! :crazy2:

When we were on the Wish last month I went to Guest Services to ask which plan would be best to use for checkin. We used to just get the free on the first day plan, but that isn't an option any more since they rolled out the new plans and I couldn't tell from the descriptions which plan would allow me access to the Southwest App. The kind CM at Guest Services confirmed that was all I needed to do and I said yes and he gave me a code to use for later that day to check in that gave me free 30 minutes. So about 10 minutes before my check in time, I just went and put the code in, the internet loaded right up and I checked in for my flight. Even got A group! :)

So you might check with Guest Services and see if they can assist you.

We just sailed on the Wish in November. Guest services did our check-in on the day before our flight. Obviously, if you feel more comfortable doing it yourself, you can, but GS was really helpful with that.

How does a wireless carriers wifi and internet service work on The Wish? I have ATT

Using your cell plans cruise roaming is super expensive. My suggestion is to turn on Wifi calling on your device and then pay for the mid tier package once on the ship and keep your phone in airplane mode. If you want to use cell service in the ports then I would turn on ATT's international roaming plan that cost $10 per a 24 hour period and you only get charged if you connect to a roaming network. This roaming plan does not work on the ship when it's moving between ports.

We were on the Wish in October. We didn't bother with the Wish's wifi/internet plans. We did connect with our provider, Verizon, before we left to let them know we'd be cruising and using the Travelwise $10/24H option. For $20 over 4 days we text and called (tried facetime but it wouldn't connect) our son in PA from the Wish (there was a dog issue) a couple times a day.

Could you only text/call while in/near a port? Or did the Verizon Travelwise also work at sea?
