Does anyone have any experince with either Verizon Wireless or Nextel in the parks? I've got a Nextel (from work) and my wife has a Verizon cell. I'm trying to determine if we'll be able to call each other while we're split up for child swaps, etc....

I can answer for Nextel - DH has had no problems using his cell in the parks or resorts. I fondly remember the work conference calls at MK, Epcot, Poly, BWV, the list goes on...LOL.

My whole family has Verizon, and we were able to communicate without any problems when we went in June...

Anyone know about Sprint service in the world? That's what I have and I will be by myself with my two young dd's in April.

Sprint works perfectly. Never any problems. :)

We used verizon this year and never had any problems. DH even got a call from work while we were on Peter Pan  and had no problems while on the ride. I think we had Nextel the year before and had no problems with that either. Good luck!!! princess:

I had good luck with Verizon in the parks, but my phone did not work in the resort rooms, POR and Pop, to be specific.

Verizon service works great in the parks. Disney uses Nextel for their communications so Nextel has the best coverage.

The best thing about using NEXTEL is that we can communicate using the 2 way feature instead of using the Family Band Walkie Talkies.

I have Cingular and I use it all over the USA and it works super at WDW too! :sunny:

Here, here!!! PrincessCandaceMarie speaks the truth!!!! :D

We have Nextel and it worked great. One little thing that caught us by surprise on a recent non-Disney trip... unless you have one of the more expensive plans that specifically includes it, you will be charged for long distance (.15 p/m) for using the dirrect connect feature BUT NOT the regular phone mode.

Hubby has Nextel and I have Sprint - they both work GREAT!

DW and I are taking our Cingular cells but we are also getting a set of walkie talkies. I have heard that you may not get good reception if you are in a building.

btw, what is a good range to get for walkie talkies for WDW? How wide are the parks?

I have Verizon and had no problems. Had good reception everywhere. However, for whatever reason, I was on roam at Rock 'n Roller Coaster
