Help from USA residents please:

I am travelling to the USA in June and again in September. I need to use my cell phone for calls as well as data to access FP+, Google maps, email etc while away. I want to avoid ridiculous roaming charges.

I use a Blackberry handset (I know they are not so common in the USA now) and I was hoping to pick up a local Sim card to use while I am in the USA both for data and calls. It would be handy if I could pay per day of service as I will be over for 15 days at a time.

I was hoping to find out:

a) Whether anyone knows which cell phone service providers still operate pre-pay sim card tariffs suitable for Blackberry handsets.

b) How easy (being from the UK) it is to pick up a pre-pay sim from Walmart, Publix or Target etc.

c) If anyone knows which offer so many days service at a time.

d) Any other advice or information that people think would be useful would be great.

Sorry to ask here but it is hard to find out the information unless you are in the USA, lots of USA websites redirect to UK ones and I can't find anything out. Thanks

If you get 3 mobile sim here in UK you can use their "Feel At Home" service which allows you to make and receive calls to UK for free (up to whatever your allowance is anyways)

Great I will find out about that. Ideal for calls. Does anyone know about data?
