Cell Phones on Alaskan Cruises?

Do I need to do anything special with my cell plan for an Alaskan Cruise? Is it different than a Caribbean cruise?

There's ATT coverage in Alaskan ports.

In Vancouver... you'll be international roaming. You can get Canadian coverage in the BC inside passage and Prince Rupert.

Alaskan ports will be "home" territory for most U.S. cell phone providers and phones will work just like they do at home. While you are not in ports, however, you'll likely be stuck on the ship's Cellular at Sea service just like you would be while at sea in the Caribbean.

How about Verizon? Anyone know about using a cell phone in ports in Alaska through the Verizon carrier? Are there fees? Thanks!

You should be able to look at your cell phone's website to see coverage maps. Tmobile shows it is covered in Vancouver and all of the Alaska ports in my regular plan. I will turn off roaming in case we wander out to an area not covered.

I had Verizon coverage for nearly an hour after leaving Juneau, Sitka and Ketchican, and of course in those cities.

This is good news. I was wondering if we might have service on the ship in the ports with Verizon. I'm not a "disconnect" kind of person. Lol. DH needs to be able to do some work too...
