I'll get flamed for some of this, but what the hell...

1- If your cell phone rings in a restaurant do you....

a) answer the phone and carry on the conversation as usual. (depends on who it is...if i can get them off the phone quick then yes)

c) leave the phone on vibrate and if need be go outside to call the person back. (if i can't get them off the phone, i go outside)

2- At what age do you think a child needs a cell phone....
d) high school
(too many activities and now a days, you NEED to know where your youngin' is)

4- How often do you use your cell phone while driving....
b) I only take the really important calls

5- Do you have a land line at home...or use only a cell phone ??land line because of internet

6- Do you ever use the camera feature on your phone ?? occasionally, my son uses it more than i do

7- Do you text ?? constantly, i blame it on the hs'ers i teach

8- Do you LIKE using the phone, or do you prefer another way of communication ?? i would rather talk on the phone, i talk faster than i type

1- If your cell phone rings in a restaurant do you....

c) leave the phone on vibrate and if need be go outside to call the person back.

And then only if it were an important call.

2- At what age do you think a child needs a cell phone....

e) kids don't need cell phone at all.

Somehow I managed without a cell into my 20s (and that was a two-piece brick! If the kid has income and wants a phone, he can pay for it himself.

3- How many cell phones do you have in your immediate family ??

One for me, one for the wife, and we just recently got rid of home and work land-lines. We also have 2 aircards though, which are essentially cell-phones for our laptops.

4- How often do you use your cell phone while driving....

a) I am a good driver and can handle talking on the phone and driving at the same time. It's no worse a distraction that other things.

This doesn't seem to be a direct answer to the question, though. I rarely use my phone, using maybe 100 minutes a month. So the times when I receive a call while driving are not frequent, and the times I place a call while driving are even rarer. When I do, I prefer to use an earbud.

5- Do you have a land line at home...or use only a cell phone ??

See above.

6- Do you ever use the camera feature on your phone ??

Occasionally

7- Do you text ??

Occasionally

8- Do you LIKE using the phone, or do you prefer another way of communication ??

Next best thing to face-to-face

9- What is your biggest pet peeve about cell phones ??

Their ubiquity

9- What is your biggest pet peeve about cell phones ??
People that talk really LOUD on their phones. If people talk in a normal tone that it's no different than them talking to someone next to them. BUT so many people talk MUCH louder than you would in a normal conversation. I hate that !!

e) I don't bring it in with me at all.

Well I usually remember to put my phone on vibe and if it is important I will take the call and talk with "my inside voice". If it would be something lenghty I would go outside.

It is a different time then when I was a kid. Cells weren't even around and we managed but I can see where they can come in handy. Maybe middle school. Younger then that is just too crazy.

I usually don't get on my phone in the vehicle. I use my hands free calling through Onstar if I need to make a call.

5- Do you have a land line at home...or use only a cell phone ??
have land line for the dsl but I wouldn't want to just have my cell. I don't want to be in contact with everyone that way.

6- Do you ever use the camera feature on your phone ??
all the time, I love it

7- Do you text ??
not if I can help it. my brother-in-law and his wife are texting fools. They are the only ones who usually text me.

8- Do you LIKE using the phone, or do you prefer another way of communication ??

I like the phone although I do communicate a lot by email with friends away from here. Then you aren't interupting someone. You can look at it and email back when you have time.

9- What is your biggest pet peeve about cell phones ??
People talking really loud on them. :headache:

A, I am a rearview mirror freak, meaning I constantly check and I pay attn. around me. I do use the speaker feature a lot to avoid it being attached to my ear.
5- Do you have a land line at home...or use only a cell phone ??
Nope, cell only.
6- Do you ever use the camera feature on your phone ??
Don't have it.
7- Do you text ?? Sometimes

8- Do you LIKE using the phone, or do you prefer another way of communication ?? Yes I like the phone.

9- What is your biggest pet peeve about cell phones ??
Don't get me started. I cannot stand when somebody is paying for something at a store and will not put the call down for a second to make the transaction. I've actually been seeing signs in stores that say please don't come to the register on the phone or I will act like I'm talking to someone else too lol.

1)
A Answer and talk as usual if it is somone I know or a call I am expecting.
B If it is my mom I answer it and tell her I am busy and will call her back
C NA
D NA
E NA for question 1 I hardly ever cary the phone with me anyhow so many of these are NA but if I do have it I have it for a reason like I am expecting a call so I will answer it.

2) What age do children need cell phone

A IMHO kids can get a phone when they can pay for it and maintain in on their own none of my children will ever own a phone until they can afford it and take care of their own bill. I will not ever put a phone on my contract for my kids. I get them a payphone card that they can use one of the multitude of payphones around our city if they need to call us.

3) We have 1 phone and it is usually sitting comfortably on top of our microwave in teh kitchen we hardly ever take it with us anyplace we go.

4) Seldome as I said we hardly ever take it with us and we now have On Star in our new SUV so we really don't have a reason to carry our cell.

5) Landline at home.

6) I have used it one time and I do not like the pictures so I have never used it again.

7) About one time every 6 months (we have an unlimited texting plan to LOL) We have the Samsung U740 dual flip with full keyboard.

8) I prefer calling people from my house phone.

9) The cost of the contracts per month up here in Canada.

That is annoying. I hate it when clients come into our office yacking on the phone. Finish your conversation then come in. How rude! I refuse to walk into any business on my cell.

it really depends on what restaurant I'm in and who's calling. If I'm in a McDonalds, heck yea, I'll answer it. I'll even leave it sitting on the table. If I'm at say, Teo Pepe in Baltimore, I'll leave it in my pocket on vibrate just in case its my kids.

2- At what age do you think a child needs a cell phone....
when they're schedules start to get crazy and they start to do things on their own. I need to know where they are, what they're doing, who they're with and when they need to get home at ALL times! My oldest is 12 and she got one for her last birthday.
a) as soon as they know how to use one.
b) elementary school
c) middle school
d) high school
e) kids don't need cell phone at all.

3- How many cell phones do you have in your immediate family ??3

b) I only take the really important calls
c) I pull over EVERY time I use my cell phone

e) I don't allow anyone in the car to be on the phone while I am driving.

5- Do you have a land line at home...or use only a cell phone ??We have one. but I cut it down to basic service. Mostly I want to be able to call 911 if I need to with DDs Bee allergy.

6- Do you ever use the camera feature on your phone ??
all the time
7- Do you text ??constantly. I love texting because I can get the info I need and not worry about bugging somebody at an inopportune time. Plus, I can't hear well on the phone. I can usually get the gist of the conversation, but I know I miss stuff. It gets frustrating. With texting, I don't have to worry about missing anything.

8- Do you LIKE using the phone, or do you prefer another way of communication ??I like using my phone, but I don't like talking on it. See above. Now, thats not to say that I'd not talk. If any of you called me I'd be thrilled to try to hang on to your every word!

Not sure about that. I made it to adulthood without ever having one, but pay phones were more plentiful, too. Jr High-High School is when we'll probably start getting them for the kids.

3- How many cell phones do you have in your immediate family ??

4- How often do you use your cell phone while driving....

8- Do you LIKE using the phone, or do you prefer another way of communication ??
I talk on it for work all day. I really don't want to "chat" with friends and family all evening. Come over and see me in person.

9- What is your biggest pet peeve about cell phones ??

oh gosh...

people who talk on the phone whil checking out at stores

people on the phone in a quiet place, like the library

when you are in the middle of a conversation (face to face) and they stop to answer the phone and carry a conversation with the person on the phone. Uh, SO RUDE!

I actually wrote a paper in Comp 1 about my annoyance with cell phones and manners. For some reason, people lose all manners when their phone rings.
