Cell Phone Plans

Looking for opinions on cell phone plans and any specials you might be aware of.

My contract is up in 2 weeks and I don't know if I want to keep my current carrier or find a new one.

And I've got to decide if I want a new phone number. My current one is long distance where I now live and I think I may need to update that to a local number, but then I worry about people trying to reach me at the old one. Do they let you do the "This number has been changed..." on a cell number?

I have t-mobile and love it. When Matt is stateside we share a family plan and when he is gone I change to a regular plane. Right now you can do a thousand mins with unlimited nights and weekends for $49.99 + tax which really isn't too bad. I don't know if you do much texting or need more or less mins.

Another vote for T-Mobile and that 1000 minute family share plan. I just switched from Cingular to T-Mobile about a month ago. I got two Razr phones for free (instant rebates) with this plan. It was a great deal!

You can usually bring your number with you. I have u.s. cellular and love it. Incoming calls are free so if you use your phone a lot it is a big help.

I have Cingular and I'm seriously considering going back to T Mobile when my contract is up. You can bring your number with you, but if you want to change it to a local one, let everyone know ahead of time that your number will change.

Odds are good that they won't care. Most people have cell plans with free long distance that it won't make a difference what number you have!

The problem is that they do care. These are businesses and they just don't want to call a long distance number.
