Cell phone dropped in water .. Help

This may sound strange but you may want to try rinsing the phone with distilled water before you do the rice trick. It's already wet and the distilled water will help wash away any residue of whatever liquid it was in.

I went back to my cel phone provider after my phone went through the laundry and I couldn't get it to work (didn't know about the rice trick at that point).

I got an upgrade through loyalty credits from my cel phone provider (MTS here in Manitoba, Canada) but I had to sign a new blackberry contract - I wasn't even close to finishing out my phone contract but apparently the blackberry contracts are more lucrative for the cel phone providers so if you're thinking about upgrading from a regular cel phone to a blackberry or iphone, it never hurts to ask.
