I have Sprint and also couldn't get a good signal at POR, and neither could my friend (not sure which company she uses).
And I couldn't hear it ring, either, so I put it on vibrate and had it in my fanny pack and could usually feel it -- but sometimes I'd have to think a second to figure out if it was my phone or Pal Mickey!
