Hi, my cell phone will not hold a charge so I need a new battery.
I am eligible for an upgrade thru Verizon but I still like my phone and I really do not like that a lot of new phones require a data plan for an additional charge.

Since I do not use my cell phone much and do not want to spend more money each month I am just looking to replace my battery. Verizon charges $40 for a new battery but I have seen some online for $10.

Has anyone purchased replacement batteries online? If so, from where?

TIA! :)

ebay
do a search for your battery model number, look for a buy it now with free shipping.
Only caution, try to find a seller in the USA.

I second ebay. I just ordered a new one there last week for $3.75 shipped.

I just ordered a new battery for my blackberry from Amazon. I think it was around $7 and it was the actual blackberry brand, not a generic. Verizon sells the same one for around $40.

Thank you for the replies. I just can't see spending $40 when I can get it so much cheaper elsewhere. I am just nervous that the battery won't be "good" but it is worth a shot.

US Cellular has a free battery swap. If your battery is dead, bring it in and they give you a new one.

See this is where I disagree.

You could end up spending $10-15 on a cheap replacement off ebay, and then it craps out after a few months because its really an 'old' battery. Then what? Spend another $10-15?

Why not just spend $30 now and get a brand-new one you KNOW will hold a full charge right out of the gate?

The cheap can be expensive....

That service is for U.S. Cellular customers, only -- plus, they don't operate in a large portion of the U.S.

eBay can be hit or miss, depending on where the seller gets their inventory from.

A good, relaible low-cost option is Discount Cell...

Thanks for this thread! I just ordered one for dd's phone. She is eligible for a free upgrade in August, but the her battery keeps dying. Sprint wants $50 for one. So...even if this is a "cheap" one, for $7 it should get us to August.:goodvibes
