I'll give you a negative on the Nokia E71x. It is a smartphone, so data plan would need to be included. I love it, because I love the ease of use of a Nokia, but the keyboard takes some getting used to. But it took me a good 5-6 months before I could type on it without hitting the backspace every other key.
Now if you're only looking at texting, no web browsing or other functions. I have to say the easiest texting is using a regular old style phone with predictive text. I could go a mile a minute on that when sending messages. I was also good enough to not have to look at the keys. I'm pretty good with my qwerty keys, but if I'm not looking my fingers get lost on the keys.
I have also used an HTC slider phone, so the keyboard is sideways, and it's a bit easier to type with. But a few keys are a little different than mine, so I sometimes mess up on it.
I love blackberries. Each key is individual, so it's much easier to type with. I'd love to have the blackberry torch. But only maybe when it's on the free list, or a refurb is only 20$.
