yes I saw part of her interview, and it was really touching. I remember one thing she said while crying was that "people are praying for water!! they don't care about my check!"

I agree with her 100% that has been my frustration every day now. Just get them the help they need now. and everyone. the whole gulf coast. all of them. help them live.

I think it is great that she is voicing that!!

I love her music too (I know, I am a minority), but it is great to actually hear a celebrity stand up and say what needs to be said.

Her music is a total guilty pleasure for me

I'm not a big fan of hers, but I believe she is extremely concerned and sincere with this concern. I hope she can influence others with celebrity status to become involved as well.

I'm a Dion fan also. The one thing that struck me was her frustration about the looting etc. I know they were trying to rescue people and had to stop due to the snipers. She felt it was ok for them to loot tv's did she also feel it was ok to snipe? She did so much complaining about the rescue efforts and while I agree w/ her I also think if I had a loved one helping w/ those rescue efforts I would be a nervous wreck.

The other side of that, though, is that many people are influenced by the celebrities or sports heros that they admire. Whether that is a good or bad thing is another subject, but it is true.

So having a celebrity come out and endorse giving could lead others to do so.

Over at Oprah Winfrey's website, the discussion boards are full of Oprah fans begging her to make an appearance, to make a gesture. How many women do or buy whatever Oprah says? A LOT! Entire careers are made by an endorsement from Oprah.

That's just one example.

Besides, if the celebs didn't come out and SAY they donated, there would be people saying "why hasn't that rich so-and-so given anything yet?"

Celine was not bragging that she donated $1M. In fact, she didn't even want to talk about that.

But if they stayed quiet about it people would be complaining because the people with the money were not giving it away. So basically they are damned if they do and damned if they don't (tell that is!)

I've never been a fan of Celine Dion, but she was truly sincere in her grief and sadness on Larry King.

I am also a Celine fan, I love her voice. Watching her on tv last night made me cry and wish that I could do more and when she sang I just cried all the more. She has a good heart and she didn't want to talk about the money at all.
