Celiacs at Disneyland and Universal Hollywood

My husband was just diagnosed with celiacs disease. Since we are planning a trip to Disneyland and Universal Hollywood at the end of July, I was wondering if anyone has any advice they can offer as far as how to deal with a gluten free diet in the parks. I have seen a lot of info regarding WDW, but not as much for DL and USH. I would appreciate any help I can get!

We went to DL in October. Just go to the town hall on main street and ask for a listing of GF options. It was pretty seamless. We've never tried Universal, sorry.

Around a year or so ago I was considering a DLR trip. There was lots of great info on the DL boards about gluten free dining at WDW but there's no equivalent of the Special Diets department giving out info. From the info on the DL boards I get the impression that it's really easy to be GF at DLR. I cancelled my plans for DLR because of the lack of info and because we're a heck of a lot more than just GF. If it was just gluten we were avoiding I wouldn't hesitate to go to DLR.

There's probably Universal info under the California area of the DIS as well. Pop over there and see what info is already there.

Here is a link to a Disneyland Food Blog regarding gluten free foods at the parks and a list of what restaurant offer them. When you arrive at Disneyland you can go to City Hall and ask for the current list of gluten free foods. (The list in the link is current as of now).

We've been to Disneyland several times since my husband and son were both diagnosed with gluten allergies. In the past, I have contacted the special diets email for Disneyland prior to arrival and have received an email list of the items that were gluten free. The are quite a few options at both Disneyland and California Adventure and the cast members we have come in contact with at the restaurants have been very knowledgeable. We often eat at pizza port, but also the Mexican restaurant at Disneyland has been very good with gluten free stuff. My husband is very sensitive to gluten and has never had any ill effects from eating at either park. We also ate a character breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel. The chef came out and gave us a tour of the buffet, pointing out what was safe for them to eat. He also made my son some special gluten free Mickey shaped pancakes. Don't hesitate to go. For us it has been one of the most worry free places to eat.

As a west coaster we have been to Disneyland many many times. Disneyland has improved the GF options available over the last couple of years. DS loves the Pizza in D-land and the GF buns but there are many more options available in California Adventure so we tend to eat more in that park. Also Downtown Disney has some great options for GF dinning. Unfortunately we have not seen great options for dinning in Universal.

I love that you can get GF pizza - do you know if you can get Dairy free cheese on it? like Daiya (this is the "cheese" my kids would normally have on their pizza here in Canada, it is made with Tapicoa)... Where do you get the pizza from, so I can make sure we go, thanks
