My family and I are going to be at Disney World in just a few days and have found some info on the gluten free food offered there but I am trying to find out from people who have actually experienced it how is it and what should I avoid while there?? There are 2 of us in our family who have celiac and would love to be able to enjoy alot of food without the worry!! TYIA:goodvibes

Oh, from what I have experienced, it is excellent. My little brother is Gluten Intolerant, and every single meal we had, (Even Counterservice) The chef would come out, talk to him and personally take his order. He informed us that he would be the only one touching my brothers food, and his meals didn't seem any different than ours. After the chef came and took our order at about the fifth dining experience, my mom leaning forward to my dad and said, "Can we LIVE here??"

I've gone to WDW twice since being diagnosed with celiac. I have only had one experience that was disappointing and that was at AK ... the counterservice by Yak and Yeti. Was told the only thing they could give me was plain rice! Everywhere else was fabulous!! Chefs came out at each table service restaurant and either a manager or a chef at each counter service. They will walk buffet lines with you, make special meals (gluten free waffles at Chef Mickeys - yummy!) and address all your concerns. Eating out is so easy at WDW - other restaurants could learn a thing or two!!

My 10 year old daughter has celiac. We had our first trip to DW (and shortly after her diagnosis) in 2010. We were amazed at how great the service was. The chef always came out and let her know exactly what options they had and I had the same experience that they indicated they would make it themselves. We had one night that we were going to do a barbecue (we were at SSR treehouse) and needed gluten free buns. Went to the restaurant at SSR and the chef brought us out several gluten free buns for her at a very reasonable price. The chef's at DW are amazing. From my experience, I think Disney is one of the best vacation spots for people with celiac. Can't wait to go back.....

closing this thread since it was posted in the wrong form and the OP has already taken their trip by this point.
