Celebrity treatment

I would have felt annoyed if a "celebrity" decided to ride over and over again...especially if they didn't take the time to notice or care that other people had been waiting 85 minutes in line! If you're that big of a celebrity that you feel the need to "shut things down" so that you can enjoy it, then you're obviously doing well enough in life that you can afford to not have to go to Disney to entertain your kids...buy your own amusement park attractions if you want to have them to yourselves!

But really, does Tommy Hilfiger even qualify as a celebrity? I didn't know they sold his clothes anymore.

Just let someone un-noticable from the celeb's group wait in the line (( a nanny, security guard (If they really are concerned about their safety)) a family member, or their VIP guide. Than MR or MS **big** can be notified by phone (even *I* have a cel) when their turn is up. That way, they sort of waited their turn. And they shouldnt be allowed to ride any more times than I would be allowed

And then there'd be people complaining about how CelebX just walked up and cut into the line at the last minute. They wouldn't win either way!

I'm sure, on some level, it stinks that he cannot anonymously just walk around the parks with his kids, like we do with ours. I bet the commotion and inconvenience of people of his celebrity waiting in line and making everyone freak out would be much more annoying. What are the options? Should the big celebs just rent the park out for the day? I bet that wouldn't annoy any of us

Hillfiger got rich making clothes. That we go ape-**** over rich people and other celebs is really *our* problem, not theirs. Or shouldn't be.

Putting in an asterisk to post words the DIS doesn't allow is considered "bypassing the filter" and will earn you points. You might want to edit that. My virgin ears are not offended, just trying to help you out there. You're supposed to type whatever you want and let the filter do it's job. You can say "ape-****", you just have to let it come out like that.

When people court fame they cannot turn around to me and cry that they are famous. They might find a friendly shoulder somewhere, someone to tell them, "Yes, being famous is very hard. You poor thing. I will do my part to protect you from any part of being famous that you don't like. You're so special. You deserve to have all the money that comes with it, but shouldn't have to deal with the down sides." I'm just not one of them.

If you want to be famous, you can take the bad with the good.

I do think people who were tossed into the limelight should be protected - the families of murder victims, that sort of person. But not the people who sought it out. They wanted it, they got it, they can deal with it.

You're acting like they did something wrong here. I'm sure they'd love to be able to get on the ride unharrassed and be able to spend the day at Disney with their kids like everyone else in the park. But they can't. It's not them causing the scene, it's the star-struck twits who feel the need to follow them around and take pictures and basically stalk them through the parks that won't allow that to happen.

They're people. I've met a few famous people (or least seen them in public), and most of them seem like pretty nice people. And I've seen how hard it is for them to just go to the theater or walk down a street, and how frustrating that is when they are with their kids.

They're as entitled to spend time with their kids like anyone else, it's just different for them because most people know who they are. Sure, I think Tommy needing to take multiple turns on Toy Story is a little selfish...but I think waiting on line would have caused far more of a scene.

No one is whining and crying. If it's just easier to use a VIP at the park if they worry about crowds and security, then that's just how they do it. Simple as that.

I have read TR's on here from regular non-celebrity Joes who have paid a premium for the VIP tourguide service (like $100 an hr on top of their ticket price) and have had the same treatment - ushered backstage to avoid the crowds, and taken to the front of the lines and all. So celebrity or not, if you want to pay the price, Disney apparently offers the service. Don't be mad at the celebrities -- they have the money to pay for the service, and they're just getting what they paid for.

Now, I'm sure there are instances where Disney may be trying to wine and dine a celebrity by giving them the VIP treatment for other reasons, but still, stuff like that is available to the highest bidder.

I didn't read all the replies, but I live in New York City and I was on line to get into Tommy Hilfiger's store and Mickey was there, bumped the line and got right in. They closed the store for a half hour while him and Minnie were shopping and looking around.

So I guess they owed Tommy the same treatment.

Damn celebrities.

I get it now. Celebs don't have to wait in line 30+ mins with small children while teaching their children the importance of waiting your turn. They don't have to stand in the heat and humidity. They don't have to tell their child they can't ride an attraction again because the line is too long. What a pity!! Celebs choose their profession and there is good and bad. Being famous means getting recognized and having fans. I would not bother a celeb who is having family/personal time -- I am having my own fun time!

we [my adult family of 6] did a 5 hour VIP tour @ Universal in Jan because we had only ONE day outside WDW--and it was SO worth it-- no lines -- and we were ushered into the back of every attraction with no waiting-- BUT we did get some peculiar looks who ARE these people and why did they get ahead of us????...we paid above and beyond for the pleasure and i would do it again in a New York minute--- so please live and let live----

Did any of you watch Jon and Kate plus 8 when they went to Disney? I remember picking out things that they were doing special for them, for example, when the kids met the princesses. They were in a special area (that the princesses don't usually appear in to my knowledge) and the 3 princesses were together just for these kids. There were cast members bringing out trays of ice cream for the kids. Now there are other families with 8 kids that visit Disney, so I found that a little unfair. But I realize it was necessary for good footage for TV. It sucks, but that's life.

(Don't take this post the wrong way, I LOVE Jon and Kate plus 8. This was just another example that popped into my mind.)

However, when her son pitched a fit to ride Dumbo again, Kate did not let him. He was screaming as she dragged him away from the ride. That is a difference in this and the Tommy Hilfiger situation. When you are given special treament to begin with, I think it's terribly selfish to riide the rides over and over when there are mobs of people waiting!

You do not know me at all. I am very content with my life and I know money does not buy happiness. I mean that many celebs feel entitled to special treatment and don't think twice about going ahead of ordinary folks. I am sure there are lots of people with tons of $$ that are not celebs and go to WDW. I say great for them-- just get in line with the rest of us. WDW is for everyone to enjoy!!

This is what makes me angry about celebrities. They complain because they can't go anywhere with someone taking there picture. They just want to be "normal" is I'm sorry, this isnt normal treatment. They should wait in line just like everyone else.

Everyone here seems to be missing a key issue here: Safety. Not just the safety of the celeb and their family, but the safety of everyone around that celeb. While I doubt TH would inspire it, a mob scene could be extremely dangerous. Some of those queues are VERY narrow, and some have drop-offs, etc. . . if people started pushing, little ones could get pushed under the guard rails and hurt or trampled. Heck, we could all get hurt. What if someone got pushed down onto the tracks of the ride? I think this is Disney's big concern.

As far as John and Kate + 8, I'm sure Disney considers that like filming a big commercial. A little inconvenience for guests at the time but it has the potential to bring in lots more, so probably worth the risk.

And no, it doesn't surprise me that Tommy Hillfiger is not a nice person. Wasn't his totally spoiled awful daughter on reality show about rich kids for a while? There are plenty of nice celebs out there, but I'm sure there are just as many who are not. Just like normal people.
