I was just reading an online photo article about celebrities who endorse political candidates and I found it interesting that the celebrities I liked and respected the most endorsed the candidate that I would vote for if I had an opportunity. Almost without fail I could guess which politician each was endorsing before reading the text.

It was a random sampling, only about 35 celebrities mentioned, but I just found it interesting that the celebrities I would most like to have a beer with supported "my" candidate, while the celebrities that I don't particularly enjoy were almost unanimously supporting the other candidate.

Not that my, nor any celebrity endorsement, means anything. Do you typically find that the celebrities that come out and endorse your preferred candidate are people you "like"?

I actually don't like when celebrities endorse political candidates... Some people are dumb enough to vote for whoever just because their favorite celeb supports said candidate:rolleyes2. I don't really watch that much TV and I don't pay much attention to political ads because they drive me crazy lol, but from what I've seen, most celebrities I like support the opposite candidate :rotfl2:

For me it's largely the opposite, but then again I don't equate someone who's a talented musician or actor with someone that has an equal understanding of economic or foreign policy.

I think that having a large number of celebrity endorsements makes a candidate seem less legitimate, kinda like he/she is partying it up with the elite!

It also makes me wonder what the candidate promised the celebrity to get the endorsement.

Yes!!! If this were Facebook, I would "like" this over and over. Okay well only once because then it would "unlike" but I'd wish I could like it over and over.

:thumbsup2

Politicians who rely on celebrity endorsements know they can't win based on their policies alone, they need something else to get votes. Those poor ignorant citizens are being played for their stupidity ;)

I've noticed just the opposite - most of my favorites endorse the candidate that won't be getting my vote today. My very favorite musician/celeb really shocked me with his endorsement this year because it seems like it goes against everything he is in his public life and charitable efforts, and I find it hard to set that aside in my mind when I'm listening to his music these days.

I really wish they'd all just stay the heck out of it.

I could care less who a celebrity endorses. I would think that some of the candidates are probably hoping that some of these "celebrities" would shut up about any endorsements. Really, can a do a campaign good to have some mindless celebrity who is known for being arrested, sex tapes, drug issues and many other things endorsing them?:rotfl:

What is even sadder is that there are people out there who are unable to think for themselves and will vote for who they are told to. I remember a while ago, hearing people actually say that they were voting this way or that way because that is who Oprah liked. Really people? It's sad and a bit scary.

Just in case...

THIS!

I will take it one step further and say many entertainers have not even completed school (although certainly not always the case). I really hate it when celebrities get involved in endorsing candidates.

What I find hilarious are the has-been, loser celebrities that decide to come out and let the world know who they support. I'm sure the candidate is like:   :scared:

In general, I find my favorites hold opposing views, but I would never let an entertainer factor into any decisions I make in life including what kind of clothes to wear. They are entertainers and nothing more to me.

What I find hilarious is when a politician has an artist at their campaign rally that normally uses vile and disgusting lyrics about women, and then lets the artist replace the nasty name for women in the song with the opponents name. If that is the kind of people the guy counts as friends thats not the kind of leader I want. Shows a huge lack of class!!!

I find who a celebrity endorses as interesting as who anyone endorses. I like to hear all viewpoints and a celebrity's is as good as anyone else's but I won't vote a certain way just because someone else says I should.

Same here.

Additionally I respect everyone's right to an opinion and freedom of speech. However, some of the entertainers/"journalists" have worded their opinions shockingly and in poor taste. That has changed my view of them. That's an extension of everyone's right to an opinion. :)

It has been an ugly election cycle. No matter the outcome, I will be glad it is over for that reason alone.

Celebrities tend to be useful for a) get-out-the-vote efforts and b) raising money. I think their opinion matters less than their fundraising skills.

I tend to listen to people who have travelled, who are curious, who are obviously intelligent. Usually, people with these things in their lives are also talented in some way. Rarely, although there are glaring exceptions, are people who have lots of talent unable to express clear and thoughtful opinions. When I see a politician who has a cause, like Clooney and Darfur, I can be pretty sure that he didn't just somehow stumble into the situation. It means he has intelligent, meaningful conversation with others, does research, betters himself and the lives of others rather than sitting around wasting their brains in self pursuit.

I find it difficult to really listen to celebrity political endorsement right after singing songs like "itches and Sisters and "Money,Cash and Noes" (Rhyming cause, ya know). Maybe Im just old.

I tend to prefer educated , thoughtful , opinions. Not saying all celebrities are foul mouthed and fools, but they aren't the first ones I turn to.

:thumbsup2 Except I would say disgusting instead of hilarious!
