Hello! I posted this over on the RCCL board, but I haven’t gotten a response yet. I am booked on a celebrity cruise and have the always included classic drink package.

I know most cocktails are over the nine dollar allotment for the classic package. My question for those of you that have been on a celebrity cruise is.. are you able to ask the bartender to modify a more expensive cocktail on the menu to meet a classic beverage package price?

for example if I said the “xyz” beverage on the menu priced at $12 sounds great. Can you make me something similar that fits my $9 price limit? Or am I going to be limited to well drinks, wine and Beer only?

Thanks!

If you want the $12 drink, you will pay just the difference ($3 plus gratuity) so that might be an option. And I don't recall "most" cocktails being over the $9 limit. I've never paid extra for a drink while on the classic package, and I've had lots of drinks that were fine.

Here's the link to the Classic Package brands; any drink with these will be covered.

We just got off the Edge yesterday and premium drinks are up to $15 cap. We felt as though there were plenty of options on the classic plan with beer and wine, but cocktails, especially martinis hit that top limit. I would bet you could have the more common drinks made with classic package alcohol, but not some of the more expensive drinks, like martinis. If you're sailing the Edge class, then Eden has $20 cocktails and the alcohol looks very specific to the drinks, so there may not be a classic package alternative in terms of alcohol.

I think that you'll generally be able to get basic well cocktails within the Classic Beverage package, but if you want the specialty cocktails (like most of the martinis at the martini bar) you'll end up paying the up-charge. At meals the sommeliers will ask you what beverage package you have and will generally try to suggest wine and cocktails that are in your package.

I think that the cost to upgrade from the Classic Package to Premium is something like $12/day, which is pretty reasonable if you anticipate that you'll want to partake in the premium cocktails often.

Thank you everyone for the replies! I have clients going in April and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t leading them astray! You guys are the best!
