Celebrity Apprentice

I was pretty surprised that Clay didn't win. He raised more money and I felt that his party was not only more fun, but also applied to his charity in a great way. And, while they didn't show us the entire variety show, I do feel that Team Clay was much more fun to watch - and appealed to a much larger audience.

Me too.

I admired Arsenio's passion for his charity, but I thought he was completely unremarkable as a contestant. I think that Donald Trump would simply rather be associated with Arsenio (who was once an A-lister and who may be again) and a prominent charity than Clay (who will never will an A-lister) and his start up charity.

I think it should have come down to Aubrey and Lisa. They came off as pretty unlikable, but as far as what they brought to the table throughout the season, they were two of the strongest performers, IMO. And frankly, it seems hypocritical that Lisa was fired for being too emotional and Arsenio was kept around.

A & L were the most vocal, loudest, and most memorable of the contestants but FAR from the most effective.

Lisa's emotionality was WAY less controllable than Arsenio's. Lisa attacked, Arsenio defended himself or counterattacked. His was based on anger or disgust while her's was to intimidate, control and deter attention away from her losses. They also seemed to be based on a deep seated insecurity, which made it all the more unattractive. There are BIG differences.

Well I just finished watching the last 4 hours. I was disappointed in the ending. I agree with others Clay out played Arsenio on the last task. Also, while I really dislike Aubrey, the vulgar way Arsenio acted was just nasty. I'm a fan of those that take the higher road. Piers Morgan over Trace Adkins?? Piers was a snake Trace was a class act. I think Donald Trump enjoys the trouble makers more.

Actually Arsenio had to rein in Adam & his ideas several times.

Yes, Arsenio DID step up in the last challenge and keep his team in check. I don't think he was very effective at doing that in prior challenges. At least he put his foot down during the final task, when it really counted.

They spent all season bragging about all the work they did on their various projects. But, the two of them came out on the losing side of ~3/4 of the challenges. The point was made on many occasions when you're the "star" of the losing team, maybe the reason you lost is YOU.

I think that could arguably be said of Aubrey, who had a hard time incorporating other people's opinions, but Lisa was a workhorse, extremely competent and collaborative (with people she respected). Even contestants who disliked her acknowledged the first two things about her. Basically, I think Arsenio exhibited some of Lisa's and Aubrey's worst attributes (temper and having a hard time acknowledging other's contributions) without their best attributes.

What did Arsenio do that was so exceptional that would justify the win (in either the season or the finale)? In the finale, Clay earned way more money and his fundraiser was much more elaborately planned and themed. I was also surprised that no one pointed out that the comedy in Arsenio's show ran pretty blue.

As much as I liked Arsenio, I thought Clay should have won. I was hoping that Arsenio would get a new talk show deal out of the competition (wasn't aware that was a done deal) but I thought business wise, Clay showed more business sense and ability to lead. Arsenio seemed to let his team walk over him more during his two times as PM. He did seem more in charge for this task but he & Clay have two very different leadership styles.

But for me- I was judging primarily on the final task and how it was managed. I liked Clay's concept for the ad (or rather, Penn's idea of having the wheel chair in the picture but not knowing which kid it belonged to)- but the execution wasn't the quality I would have expected. I liked Arsenio's ad much more. The fact that Clay earned twice as much for his charity was curiously overlooked. And for the parties- I honestly didn't compare them as they were too different. I thought that Arsenio's party was quite classy (much as I would never touch steak tartare) and he appeared as the host which I didn't see Clay do as much of- Aubry seemed to be more prominent. I liked how much the theme fit in with Clay's charity and I didn't have any problem with his micromanaging all the details- it was his charity that he was playing for and only he would be affected. I really never understood why a professional muralist wouldn't have a portfolio available on her website or that she could forward in almost an instant digitally to a prospective client and then verbalize what vision she had for the actual wall. We live in an instant society and it didn't make sense to me that that wasn't offered at the very beginning when Debbie called her cousin. Show the work and Clay would have been fine. Could also have been editing that made it seem like it was a very dragged out process tho- rather than something that was actually resolved in an hour or two the first day. They do try to present the most problems in the show.

I probably shouldn't have been, but I did feel a bit put off by the jokes in Arsenio's show. I know that is Lisa & Adam's schtick and I love Lisa on HBO but this wasn't late night cable-it was a charity event. I also didn't like that it seemed more like a roast when he specifically said that's not what he wanted. I would have expected there to be a script that he could have approved or asked for a rewrite. I realize that we only saw a small part and that might have been just the most off colour clip, but I did like what we saw of Clay's show much better. I thought Dee was hysterical when he sang with Debbie- and I did like that the audience responded more to his music than hers...lol.

When it is all said and done, the show is a marketing spiel for Trump. Marketing is his real genius and he kept Dayana, Lisa and Aubry on for just the controversy they provided. I didn't see what Dayana brought to the table other than her beauty and grace-she was a lady throughout and I respected that. I just don't think that she was a good contender. Lisa was crass and rude and acted like she needed a refill on her medication, but I liked her work ethic and her ideas for the most part. I love her comedy-but it certainly isn't appropriate for the work place. As for Aubry, I just thought that she was very narcissistic and controlling and needs a lot of time to mature. Some of her ideas were good but I found her constant "I did everything" yet blamed everyone else when her team lost nearly 70% of the tasks was just pure garbage. I would have loved her to have had a full set down by Trump or Don JR at some point.

This is a show that DH & I like to watch together so I will still watch come next year, but overall I didn't think it was as good as previous seasons.

I know it's long over and I'm late with my comments, but if anyone had seen the twitter exchanges that happened between Arsenio and Aubrey (or rather from each other ABOUT each other) - it got ugly. Extremely ugly. Aubrey has been insinuating that Arsenio is gay for weeks. Now, fine - so what if he is, but to run around saying that about someone who has not come out...and to be representing an anti-bullying charity? Hypocrisy at its finest.

She tweeted after Arsenio went on The View - something to the effect of how Arsenio should be careful - that she's hung out for years with the boyz that Arsenio's been in the closet with - something to that effect. Marlee Matlin & John Rich actually retweeted, quoting her and responding. They were shocked and I'm so glad they retweeted, because then she removed the tweet as if it never happened. Too late - two celebrities with no ax to grind have it saved.

As trashy as people think Lisa is, at least she is in your face with it, rather than backstabbing behind the scenes. She never said anything in those interviews that she hadn't already said to people's faces. Like her or hate her, she was the same in the boardroom or during the tasks that she was in "private". Lisa may not have liked/got along with everyone, but never once did she back away or try to sabotage anyone. She did the job, and put herself into the task at hand, whatever it was.

I am fairly sure whatever Arsenio does next, will have Donald Trump's hand in it. Arsenio wants a talk show again - not so sure what Clay wants/doesn't want.

I like both - honestly, I do. But watching Arsenio win the task, when point by point, Clay did a much better job overall with that task and through the whole season - was a tiny bit disappointing.

But kudos to Arsenio - he was fighting for a charity he's been involved with for 20+ years - not something he chose just for the sake of choosing for the show (*cough Aubrey cough*).

Did anyone see that Arsenio was a judge for the Miss USA pageant which just happens to be owned by Trump? :rolleyes1

FYI Penn fans: He is going to be ob Red Eye tonight! Fox News, midnight pacific time, so 3 am Eastern.
Gary Johnson is also on the panel, so it might just be a libertarian free-for-all!!!
