Has anyone visited Celebration?? IS it worth going to see? If so, how long should I allow?? What is there??:confused3

thanks alot!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Never go to Orlando without at least 1 visit there. Great times to go are Halloween, they blow paper leaves into the street every evening, pumpkin painting, Live music or Xmas artificial snow, all sort going on. Rest of year still worth going to look around, sit in the wooden rockers waterside for 20 mins, DS loved to play in water fountain when he was smaller. There are shops, places to eat. Alway buy a pizza to take away about $18 and 3 of us struggle to eat it, its massive.
Few pics from a Xmas visit here

oh thank you for those pictures - it really does look beautiful! - another reason why I really must go at Xmas!!;)

We will be there in May, so no 'special' occasions - would we still really enjoy it (we would probably only be there for an afternoon and just to grab a coffee/snack) - still worth it if not eating?? Are the fountains easy to find for DS4??

thanks Wayneg!!:thumbsup2

To the right of the 3rd pic is 2 towers thats the cinema, the fountain are just outside there, very easy to find.
We have never eaten there but many go for the food, do some Googling there are menus around. 1-2 hours is usually long enough(depending how long playing in the fountains, take towel), we like to go in a park in the morning then go to Celebration late afternoon/early eve.
Another reason to visit but not in May, is Disney Liquidation sale. They hold them twice a year but next one is in April so no chance in May. We get home before it starts unfortunately. Went last year spent about $300 but got about $1,200 worth of stuff. at least 70% off everything.
Disney Liquidation Sale
Friday, April 18th through Sunday, April 20th

celebration has its own community website..have a look on google...we found there was a sunday farmers/craft market while we were over there in August, we had tea and cake (one piece between 2 adults and 2 kids) and we couldnt finish it!!! at I think it was called "sherlock holmes cafe"...sorry memory gone.the fountain as i remember was infront of the cinema...a breath of fresh air from all the hustle and bustle.

we went there on halloween night, dressed as superman and supergirl!! :rotfl:
really enjoyed seeing all the houses done up for hallowwen. I know your not going this time of year, but anytime it is worth a visit there. And when you come back out of there go to the ice cream shop just behind the celebrations water tower for some delicious ice cream :thumbsup2 with it a row of shops hidden behind joes crab shack :thumbsup2

At Christmas they do horse & carriage ride or a small train ride round some of the streets. A lot of the houses are beautifully decorated.

There is a lovely doll shop - if you have a daughter!:)

The market street cafe is nice to eat at - we got coffees to take out after going to the farmer's market (quite small) & sat on the rockers overlooking the lake.

we have also been to Cafe D'Antonio a few times & like it there.

The Sherlock Holmes cafe is run by an English couple who moved out to florida (just for info!)

Pic of the horse, sorry slightly out of focus but it was only one I got, will get a better one this Xmas:) Also 2 pics of DS decorating pumpkin in Oct 05. Think the train is only at leaves are falling, not sure

Celebration is lovely - we drove around there on Christmas Eve in 2005. We always use the Post Ofice there to buy our stamps for our postcards.

Here is a link for the town website - Celebration

Definitely visit the ice-cream shop :thumbsup2

When we visited it was almost like stepping back in time :goodvibes

The gift/candle shop too had lovely things, especially for Halloween :)

Is there a website for this Ice cream shop? never heard of it. Is it better than Ghirridellis?

Here you go, Wayne.

Celebration can be unnervingly quiet during weekdays. If you want to get the real community feel, visit during the evening or at weekends. The town is particularly buzzy when there's something going on. We got the tail-end of pie-fest (yes, really :teeth: ) when we stayed at the Celebration Hotel for one night before a cruise in 2006.

We arnt driving would it be easy to get to from WDW??

Thanks for this.
I read the book of the family (journalist) who stayed there for a time and definitely would hope to include a visit to Celebration :)

Can I ask for the books name? I love anything about Florida!! Thanks

Celebration has two ice cream shops, the one in the main town center is called Kilwins, they sell ice cream and chocolates, the other is in the water tower and is called the Cold Stone Creamery.
I like Kilwins ice cream the best.
You can reach Celebration from WDW on the no.56 bus, but it only takes you to the Disney offices / Water tower, it would then be about a 30min walk to the center, or a taxi is about $35 one way.
