Hopefully, someone has recent experience. I've booked there through Hotwire for a rock bottom price. I'm out of DVC points. :-( We're going May 16-22. I'm not expecting Disney service or DVC suites. I just want clean, bug free & safe. Hopefully, relatively comfortable.
Does anyone know if they place a deposit hold on a credit card? And is parking a nightmare?

are you a member of RCI in your own name or only thru DVC?

if your own name
they are having another sale -

$209 for a 1 or 2 bedroom villa for the week.

Nope. Just DVC. I don't own any other timeshares.

And, even if I did, it's a moot point for this booking seeing as it's already booked through a very low Hotwire rate, which is non refundable.

Celebration Suites used to be the Days Inn Suites, enough said.

That doesn't help me at all! I don't know anything about any thing off - property.
Either way, it's already paid for & we'll suck it up for this trip. Unless it's absolutely abhorrent.

TripAdvisor is all over the place. Some people were satisfied. Others not so much. I'm not looking for or expecting anything better than a basic motel room. I'm mostly looking for a DISer with recent experience there. (Ie in the last 18 months or so...)

Good Luck then.

All I can say about it is from the last time we were in that area (2011), I was thankful that we did not book it because I had considered it. Now, that is strictly by outside appearance, we did not stay there. We usually visit Old Town each trip & it's next door to it. I can say it is in a very convenient location with lots within walking distance. I agree that the reviews are VERY mixed, so I'm thinking it comes down to what your expecting. If your used to 3 star hotels & up then you may be disappointed.

We do like this area & are actually staying at the Comfort Suites just behind it.

Oh, & as far as the deposit hold, I would think that info would be available on their website (like if you act like your booking it), it should say or just call them.

Like I said, I'm looking for recent experience. What a place was like 10 years ago doesn't help me.

How are recent experiences going to help you when you have already paid for it and have decided to suck it up? And believe me, places like that don't improve in 10 years. But like I said, good luck, I hope I am wrong.

I appreciate your perspective, but it's my understanding the facility has changed management & received refurbishment within the last couple of years. I will certainly take plenty of pictures & report regarding my experience.

We usually stay at Celebration Suites for short stays (less than a week). We have been pretty satisfied. We have stayed here 5 times over the past couple of year. The rooms are clean, but some are run down. We felt safe staying here. They have quite a number of buildings and we have stayed in 3 or 4 of them. Never had a problem with parking. Always seemed to be enough. Beds are comfortable. We liked the size of the rooms....there are 5 of us and we like to have space to move around. Housekeeping does a great job. Management is good. We've never had a problem staying here and will stay here again.

I bow to experience, have a great time dansamy.

I agree with the last post. I was there in August 2012 but I've stayed here 2X before that as well. I can't say I was disappointed totally but we had to change rooms once due to a strong musty mildew smell in our first room. And the pull out couch bed had no springs on the bottom half of the bed leaving it hanging to the floor. While letting them figure out what they wanted to do, we ran to the Dollar Tree for Lysol, frebreeze, and the renuzits pull up scented gel thingys. When we got back, housekeeping was cleaning the room next to us & told us we would move there. The smell was in this room as well but the bed worked in here. She explained that the air being on all the time & the rain something or another, leaves it smelling that way. I was confused but ok. I Lysol everything down, opened the patio door & left the front door open for some ventilation. Once I unpacked & cleaned, I was fine. Now most of my cleaning was bc I had a baby with me so wanted to mention that. I asked why we didn't get the upgraded rooms and was pretty much told the Expedia, roomstay, ect rooms are these. The building around the pool are done if you want to try to request that when you get there. I usually stay here bc I like the area as well as my kids. This year we are trying a vacation home but will stay here again maybe next year.

Here now. Wanted to update. It is much as I expected it would be. Think cheap college studio/1br apartment. The cabinetry is low quality. The flooring is low budget, but clean. The carpet has been recently replaced, but they left the old vinyl in the kitchen area. Overall, it's worth about the $35/night that you can get on Hotwire. It's not worth any more than that. It's clean, no bugs. Adequate is the best word to use. All in all, it pretty much is just what I was expecting.

Oh & we don't have a pull out couch. We have 2 queens & a Murphy bed. The room doesn't stink, but I have bad sinuses. It might smell like a swamp, but I probably wouldn't know.

Glad it was as adequate as expected. Sounds like it was years ago when I stayed there in Days Suites. I did like the murphy bed, much better than a pull out couch. Have a great time.

It's not a ghetto, but it's not a five star resort for sure. It's clean, bug free, slightly worn. If you look around, you can see where they've taken short cuts in maintenance & refurbishment. A friend of ours & my brother in law lived in a studio that was much the same with regard to upkeep, furnishings, etc. They lived in those apartments for about 2 years. Maintenance always just "patched" problems. After a few years, those short cuts start to show.

Just to add a few notes. The vending area has only one Pepsi machine. The game room is empty. Laundry is $2.75/load for wash. $2.75 for 66 minutes for dryer. There are no chairs in the laundry room. I saw inside another room while housekeeping was cleaning & it had different furniture. It was in the same building that we're in, so I am not sure which furniture set is the newer one. We do have newer carpet in this room, but the kitchen floor is old. Seems to be random replacements rather than whole scale refurbishment.
