Hi! I am not sure when this starts but has anyone done it yet? I am wondering what happens to make it special for birthdays. Also is it just a place to have birthday parties at or do families eat there also? Thanks for any input you may have.

It will be a western version of the Plaza Inn birthday party with Patty Cake. Basically the family goes to Big Thunder Ranch and has a sit down dinner then characters (DLR is saying none will be there but images used by DLR indicates so) will entertain. Kids will get to play with the animals and do western type of stuff. It is not open yet and last Sunday the walls were still up.

Made priority seating for this yesterday for our trip in May. They asked me if we were celebrating anything. I said our 25th anniversary and she got excited and stated she would add that to our PS.

Woohoo! I didn't know you could make PS's already! Thank you! :goodvibes

I'll get the details when I call Disney Dining.

Congrats!
I had heard that the roundup would open in April.

The website says it opens up on April 2. We have PS for Friday April 3rd for dinner, so we are excited to be one of the first to try it out.

From the website:

"Want to do something out of the ordinary to celebrate your special occasion? Have a cowboy-style party in the spirit of the Wild West!

* Authentic Western favorites like barbecued ribs and chicken, corn on the cob, beans, cole slaw — and a surprise dessert

* Delightful live entertainment

* Disney Character appearances

* A Critter Corral

Prices quoted to me on the phone were $28.99 for adult (which is 9 and over - whatever!) and somewhat less for kids. I'm told food is served 'family style' but the lady on the phone didn't seem certain - I called the first day they were taking reservations, and I was her first Celebration BBQ booker.

For some reason, I am kind of envisioning something similar to Whispering Canyon Cafe in WDW, but without the silliness (but wouldn't be fun if they DID bring some of that silliness to DL). But again, this is just what my imagination is cooking up!

We just want to give it a try since it's new - April 3 is my son's b-day and they made note of it, so we will report back on what all we encounter!

Interesting... Thanks jolynda! :)

$28/person sounds reasonable if it's family style. That's less than a character breakfast.

Thanks for the info. I am excited about this PS. My DH doesn't know anything about it. I can't wait to hear what you think about it.

We love whispering canyon! We HAVE to eat there at least once every year! I also have eaten at the old big thunder bbq and am curious to see what it looks like now! I am tempted to make ps's but I have to see how my son does with character interaction first...he is terribly shy.

Seems to me like it will be more of a Hoop Dee Doo Revue kind of thing than Whispering Canyon...family style meal at a fixed price, live country western themed entertainment. :scratchin

I'm anxious to know what it's really all about. I look forward to reviews and pictures so I can really decide if I'd like to try it. :)

Yah! Yours sounds like a more accurate comparison!
