Hi folks,

Little bit of an introduction to start with! We recently went on our first family trip to DLRP with me, my wife and our gorgeous 15 month daughter Mollie - on her first trip to DLRP. We've both been lots of times and love it - it was time to see what it was like with a little one in tow!

We stayed at Sequoia Lodge from 24th to 28th Oct and had an amazing trip. I hope you enjoy reading my report and if anyone has any questions, drop me a message! Enjoy!!

Mollie’s 1st Disneyland Paris Trip October 2012
Day 1 – Wednesday 24th October

As we were flying early in the morning we stayed the night at Ruth’s parents near to the airport so we could get a bit more sleep before a long day ahead – sadly I was up during the night with sicknesses which didn’t bode well for the start of our holiday (thankfully it went away pretty quickly and didn’t ruin our trip). We flew with Easyjet from Glasgow and was impressed with the check-in process for us all and the ease with which we were able to take our buggy to the plane. We had to get a bus out to the plane (makes a mockery of their priority boarding – all that allows is boarding to the bus!).

Thankfully the flight wasn’t full so we could have three seats and a bit more room for Mollie. She was so good and didn’t bother about the flight at all – she did want to get up and run around but we watched several Cbeebies shows on the Ipad during the flight. We arrived ahead of time and got our bags quickly and on our way! We were worried ahead of our trip about when Mollie would sleep as she hadn’t yet slept in the travel buggy we took and she’s so nosy she likes to see what’s going on. Not to worry though, she feel asleep as we walked through the airport. We went outside to where we would normally get the bus and waited about 10 minutes before a man from VEA came along and told us to go along to 2F and go downstairs – it was a bit of a trek but the bus we then got left shortly after we got on. Again, Mollie was fab on the bus and within 45 minutes we arrived at Sequoia Lodge!

It was so nice to be dropped off at our hotel and have the knowledge of being on-site. We arrived in at about 1.30pm and our room was already ready for us so we headed up. We were in room 3271 in the North Wing – we were right at the end of the corridor but it was great as there was no room beside us (stairs) and none above (there appeared to be some sort of balcony). It was also nice as we then had windows on 2 sides. The travel cot we had asked for was already in the room as well along with some nice Mickey chocolate coins and a bottle of water – we weren’t sure if it was free for us or part of the mini-bar but we drank it anyway! We took our time to get unpacked and let Mollie run around the room for a bit.

We packed our bags for the park (it was strange to be taking nappies along as well as camera!) and headed down in the lift. Now, one of the worries we had about the trip was how Mollie would react to characters – she’d seen Zingzilla’s before and freaked out when up close beside them. As we got out of the lift Eeeyore came walking towards us – she had plenty of sight of him and he stayed back for a bit and got down beside her – all fine until he went to touch her hand.......tears galore! What have we let ourselves in for?! We had a quick look around the shop which was fab. We then went downstairs and headed outside towards the Disney Lake. We took the quick walk around and through the bag check at the Disney Village and headed into Earl of Sandwich. We were so excited as it was being built last time we had visited and fondly remembered our visit to Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney on our Honeymoon. We shared a sandwich (the BBQ wrap one – try it, it’s amazing!).

We then walked up through the Village and over to the park – we took our traditional photos in front of the hotel and then decided to enter front and centre to the park to celebrate Mollie’s first trip. Mollie didn’t know where to look there was so much visual stimulus – we stood and watch the band play in the bandstand in Town Square and then stood at a reasonable distance to watch Goofy out with his Bonbons – the smell from the machine was hypnotic! Mollie already seemed to be excited by the Minnie balloons and was pointing at everything in sight. We then took our time walking down Main Street and into Central Plaza – it was so weird being able to walk through the middle of it. We got lots of pics of the pumpkins. We walked up through the Castle and saw that some Villains were out. Walked over to Maleficent who we knew very well (let’s just say we’ve met before and might be friends on Facebook....!). She was very pleased to see us and whilst I posed for a pic, Mollie kept her distance – knowing us and that it was Mollie’s first trip Maleficent did kindly enquire as to ‘how is the little witch!’ – how lovely eh?! We said goodbye and got some pics with Cruella who we’ve also met before and know – she wasn’t at all surprised to know that I was excited to see Maleficent – she’s knows how big a fan I am! Frollo and Queen of Hearts were also out and about.

We then stood and let Mollie watch the Carousel and then without much of a queue we went on and Mollie had her first ride at Disneyland! She was great and grabbed onto the pole whilst Ruth held her. We then went into Sir Mickey’s and got some postcards (Mollie promised to send one to Nursery!) and Ruth got a furry Minnie Hat which she’d seen on a previous visit and wanted – it certainly came in handy this trip – in fact, weather wise, it was a nice dry day but a bit foggy in the morning. Overall we were extremely lucky with our weather – bar a few spits of rain (not enough to warrant putting the rain cover on the buggy) it was dry – it was bitterly cold on Saturday though but we could not have hoped for better for the whole trip. We left Sir Mickey’s a took a wander over to the Princess Pavilion which is a new addition since our last trip in 2010. We also saw the Rapunzel meet and greet location (she wasn’t out at it during our trip) and also saw some new items outside the front of Alice’s Curious Labyrinth. We also took a look at the new Mickey meet and greet location. We walked round by Peter Pan and to one of our favourite pin carts for a look. We let Mollie out for a walk about and headed over to the Parade route and got a great spot.

We loved the new music and the floats were fab – Mollie was waving away and got super excited when she saw Minnie coming! Once finished, we walked down past the AP Bureau and into Discoveryland to grab a fastpass for Buzz. We then walked down to Star Traders and were pleased to see lots of stuff for Vinylmations. Did a trade and got Prince Naveen. We then walked over via Central Plaza to Frontierland and got some cool pics of the entrance done up for Halloween. We went down and saw Jack out and headed into the main Shop to look at their Halloween merchandise. We then headed back into Central Plaza and stood and watched the water show in front of the Castle. We then went and used our fastpasses for Buzz – Mollie was great on the ride and seemed to love it! We walked up into Fantasyland and went to go to Bella Notte but it was closed so headed over towards Pirates. Saw some filming taking place on Captain Hook’s ship.

We then tried Colonel Hiati’s but it was closed too! We figured it was time to head back towards Main Street and try to get some food there so walked down via Agrabah and onto Main Street. Checked out Casey’s, Victoria’s and finally decided on the Market Deli – got some croque monsieurs and drinks. Mollie was getting tired bless her but had been doing so well! We looked in some shops and got the new Parade CD, the cute little cuddly Boo with Sulley blanket and theme park set of 5 gang to play with. Looked in Lily’s Boutique – sad to see a lack of Halloween merchandise. Over into Harrington’s – lots of vinyls – yay! Dreams was about to start so we grabbed a spot by Plaza Gardens and watched it – incredible. So amazing to stand watching it with the incredible music and holding Mollie. When it was over we joined the crowds leaving and nipped down through Discovery Arcade and out into the Village – we saw the new World of Disney store but decided to keep it for another time as it had been a long day. We got back to the hotel in no time and got Mollie ready for bed – she was so good and slept really well in her travel cot. I wrote up the details of our first day and headed to bed dreaming of all the fun we’d get up to on our first full day!
