Celebrating Our First Anniversary Contemporary Style! (COMPLETED)

Those pictures make me sad too. We have old home movies from our first family trip to Disney, and we went to both Discovery Island and River Country. When we went to Disney in May we stayed at Ft. Wilderness and everytime we passed those places on the boat, my parents would talk about how pitiful they look. Glad someone else remembers going there! Sad pictures though.

I'm loving all your pictures Lindsey :grouphug: It's nice to see the old photos too!

Wow! Some amazing before and after pictures. Sadly, I never got to see the former "glories".

Thanks! It was weird to see the before pictures and now see it today.

Yea...another trippie!!! I'm a little late to the game, but enjoying your report, as always!

Wow, I don't remember Discovery Island at all.......however, River Country definitely takes me back to my childhood! It looks awful now!

I'm so glad you joined my Trippie again! :goodvibes I know, it is so sad to see our childhood Disney memories just left there to rot. :sad2:

I just read the whole report and it sounded wonderful!!

I liked your part about the Disney that was. I grew up in the Orlando area and we would take field trips to Discovery Island. I have some pictures around here somewhere....hmmm....if I can find them I will try to figure out how to scan them and post them. That will be a new adventure for me :lmao: .

Wow!! What a load of pixie dust you both received! How fun!!

I would love to see more pictures from Discovery Island. We have a few of me when I was two there and they are my Mom's favorite photos. I'll have to see if I have any of those copies around or they may all be at my parents' house. Oh, the memories! :goodvibes

Ahhhh River Country...that used to be so much fun. How about the slides at the pool that just dropped off about 10 feet above the water??? Those were some great pictures of the wedding pavilion. I also really like the Cinderella and Prince Charming crystal you got...so sweet.

I know! :yay: It was just so upsetting to see River Country in the condition! Thanks! DH did a pretty good job! He's learning! :rotfl:

Lindsey, I love  the Cinderella and Prince charming your DH gave you! your DH is such a keeper does he have any friends for me?! lol JK! Anyway that piece is really beautiful!

I love your "The Disney that was". My first visit to Disney World was when I was 5 in 1992 and I don't remember Disney's Discovery Island :sad1:. It's sad to see how they just let the island go though and didn't even clear it. I hope that they don't do that to any of the things I love now. But Disney is ever changing isnt it, Thats the way Walt wanted it..so I guess its bound to happen :sad2:.

Anyway I can't wait to hear about the rest of your day

Thank you! DH did good! ;) I love the engraving on it! All of DH's friends are old, married, or divorced. :rotfl2: He is the youngin' of his friends and co-workers.

I know things must go and change, but just leaving it there for the guests to see the mess! Awwwww...so sad! :sad2: I can't believe I was able to find the Treasure Island boat. It was still there in the same ship wrecked spot rotting away.

Wow, you guys had such a wonderful 1st anniversay!! CRT sound great as always, don't you just love the champagne glasses. we got them for our 5th anniversary. it is just a magical resuraunt, weather you are celebrating a special day or not!!!! this is why dh just loves this resturaunt, well also for the prime rib. i can't beleive that YOU lost your food pics.i forgot to take them there, except for out apitizers and deserts. to much excitement wih dh's basket!!!!

thanks for all them memories from River Country. me and my sister used to go there when we were younger. i have neve been to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. soon, though!

your trippie was great a always and i can't wait for the next! by the way i see your going back to Diseyland, how great is that. and i hope you are staying in a different hotel!!! lol~

~sue

I know! I can't believe I deleted all those food pics from my memory card before I uploaded them on my computer!

I remember your DH loves CRT! I still think that's too funny! :goodvibes We just had such a wonderful and Magical anniversary dinner! I couldn't have asked for anything better! :wizard:

I have never been to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon either. I'm not a big water parks fan, but I have always wanted to go check out Blizzard Beach. One day...one day...

I am thrilled to be going back to Disneyland and we are staying in style this time! No more Hotel Hell for us! :lmao: We are staying on Disney property! :woohoo:

The pictures from the Sea Racers are great Lindsey.
I got to visit River Country & Discovery Island once in the early 90's & it is sad to see them all over grown like that.

Thanks also for the pic of the Cindy/Prince your DH got you. How beautiful. What did you get him????? I know I am nosey.

Thanks! :)

I miss the good 'ol Disney days!

We actually were not going to get each other anything because the weekend trip was our gift for each other. It's a pricey gift with our meals and everything! I didn't get DH anything! :scared1: Then, he goes and surprised me with the flowers and gifts! I wasn't expecting anything. I guess his gift was getting to go on those Sea Racers! ;) :rotfl:

Oh, I would love to see those videos! :) Yeah, I heard about the old railroad at Fort Wilderness too that is now gone and the remains of the tracks are left. :sad2: We are staying at FW for Christmas and I'm sure I will be doing some exploring!

I'm loving all your pictures Lindsey :grouphug: It's nice to see the old photos too!

Thank you! :yay:

Those Sea Racer pictures were great! And thanks for the trip down memory lane. I loved seeing the pictures of days gone by. It is sad that things have been left to rot though.

Also, the sticky Mickey looked yummo!

Another fantastic post as usual...but oh so sad.:sad2:

I had so much fun at both Discovery Island and River country. I can almost feel how cold the water was.

It makes me miss being 12.

I really wish they would restore it to its former glory, though I admit it's farfetched with all the waterparks and AK...:sad2:

Now, it's time to say good-bye...
Animal Kingdom

It was time to bring out Sea Racer back to the dock and it was time for us to leave the Contemporary after our wonderful weekend. We were just having too much Disney fun and we were not ready to go back home, so we were going to make a trip over to Animal Kingdom! We decided we'd leave our car at the Contemporary and my flowers at the front desk, and take the bus over to AK.

It was a blast and a perfect way to end our Anniversary Weekend!

We had to make a stop at Primeval Whirl! We just love that ride and we got hooked on it during our Disneymoon! :goodvibes

We spent the rest of the day at AK and were actually rained out! :scared1: We were in line for the Kilimanjaro Safari and they actually shut the ride down because the lightning was so bad. We should have been next on the ride, but we were trapped and stuck there waiting in the steamy heat for 30 minutes. Finally, we all had to be exited for the ride. I had never seen such a downpour! We were soaked from head to toe and had to walk through the storm to get to our bus. What a way to end the weekend!

We finally got on the bus and we were freezing cold! That's rare to say during the summer in Florida! We got back to the Contemporary to pick up my floral arrangment and the Cast Members were joking that they were wondering if we were coming back because they were deciding who should take it home to their wife. :rotfl: It was quite a challenge getting the arrangement in the car and then holding onto it during our drive home. Luckily, we mostly got it back in one piece! :goodvibes

I hope you all enjoyed my Trippie and I am so glad you stopped by to join us during our Magical weekend! :wizard:

That is too bad that you got rained out of the AK, but it looks like you were having lots of fun before the rain hit.

So sad that the trip is over:sad2:

You have the BEST TR's, and I know you will have another one before too long! I can't wait!!

Aw darn. I just had to ask though :lmao:

I know thats just eerie that Disney would let all that stuff sit there and rot away. :confused3 Unless they thought they were going to reopen it. hmmm

Great report... thank you for sharing it and all your lovely pictures :flower3:
