DH and I will be at DL with our teen girls and friends in early August. Coincidentally, we'll be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary while we're there! We don't want to spend much time away from the group as I know it will be so much fun, but we're hoping to get away for a nice lunch somewhere that day. Any suggestions? Don't want to break the bank but someplace we can enjoy a glass of wine and some yummy food. Also, any other suggestions for a surprise for DH? I'd like to do some little thing to make it kind of extra special for him.

Thanks in advance!

Hmm a special anniversary lunch that won't break the bank... Let's see. Well the Carthay Circle has a very nice lunch in their beautiful dining room (which I find is also quite romantic and they have a good wine list.) BUT the lunch entrees run $22-$32. Instead of a full lunch you could do wine and appetizers (they can be v filling) at the Carthay Circle lounge at lunch time and that can be cheaper. Or you could have wine with lunch at Storyteller's Cafe in the GCH but that it more of a family restaurant so you will need to be OK with less of a romantic atmosphere. If you are more in a "picnic" type mood you could get some of the great corn dogs from the Corn Dog Castle in DCA (right next to Goofy's Fly School) and take them over to the Sonoma Terrace which is right across from the entrance to Carsland. They have a very nice wine list at the Terrace and you can get some great glasses of wine to pair with your deep-fried delicious (and yet very affordable) corn dog treat. (No one will care that you are bringing corn dogs to eat at the outdoor terrace.) If you are up for mixed drinks you could do a lunch of drinks and appetizers at the Cove Bar overlooking Paradise Pier or at Trader Sam's at the Dland hotel (I am sure you could also get a glass of wine at both places too.) Hope that helps.

I'll echo Wine Country Trattoria AND The Cove Bar (where the appetizers are lunch sized portions and then some!)...with the slight edge going to Cove Bar, as it seems to keep my 6 year old more engaged (watching the coaster and whatnot) than Wine Country.

Great suggestions! Thank you! I was thinking of Wine Country Trattoria, and maybe getting a table outside? Do you recommend I make a reservation or can walk-ins still get a table at lunch? Our Anniversary is a Thursday, so maybe it won't be too busy.
