So I decided to try my hand a PTR.

That's me! My real name is Sophia and I'm 22 year old, will be turning 23 this coming September. I am a resident of Denver CO though I am actually a Californian by birth! I actually lived in about seven states and five countries growing up (Dad's an engineer). I am the resident Disney/theme park geek of my family (which admittedly is small, I'm an only child).

I've been to Disneyland more times than I can count growing up (yeah for having family who live in CA!). But only have to been Walt Disney World a handfull of times. In fact my trip this last January was my first trip there since before Test Track had opened but after Animal Kingdom had opened!

My favorite Disney park is Disney's Hollywood Studios which I still have a tendency to call MGM. Which is rather funny because when I went there as a kid it was my least favorite of the parks right next to Animal Kingdom (I found both rather dull at the time). My favorite ride is Space Mountain! And I really don't have a favorite Disney movie in particular though my favorite princess is a toss up between Tiana and Cinderella.

I run long distance for fun, and thats the main focus of this trip other than to celebrate my birthday. I will be running my eighth half marathon and for the first time I will be running with a partner.

My friend Sammy (who I do not have photos of yet, and need to ask before I post here) I met just last month actually when at the Family Fiesta 5k at WDW. We spent a good half hour talking before the race than split. I didn't think I would ever see again. I was wrong. You see I knew she was at WDW for vacation but I didn't know she was a Cali native. So fast forward two weeks to the night of the Neverland 5k. Somewhere in that first mile I here 'Hello again!'. I turn around and low and behold it was her. We spent the rest of the race chatting and ended up agreeing to race together in the Disneyland half that coming September in what would be her first half marathon! She lives about twenty minutes from the park so we are planning to spend the day before the race running the 5k and then chilling at Disneyland for the day and Pasta Feed. This will also be the first time I'm actually riding the rides with someone else in a few years (my Mom is not a theme park goer and tends to just turn me loose to do whatever when I'm in the park).

Also on this trip is my Mom who comes along to my races as a support person when she can. As mentioned prior she is not much of a theme park goer but loves parties Disney puts on for their races so she will be in the park using the Twilight Tickets that Disney provides for the Pasta Feed. There's a small, small chance my Dad may be there but most likely he will be in Saudi Arabia working on the project.

The trip itself should last maybe four - five days maybe shorter or longer depending on school. Leaving on Thursday and coming back either Sunday evening or Monday morning.

That's it for now I guess. Will post more details on Tuesday evening (why then? Calc test).

Great introduction Sophia!!

Thanks and :welcome:

So as promised with test out of way, time to post what little I know about the trip. The only definates are parts of the Friday and Saturday Schedule.

Thursday evening (late flight)/Friday morning(early flight): Arrive in LA from Denver

Friday morning: Hit the Expo for the race first and pick up everything necessary for the race that weekend.

Friday Afternoon: Check into hotel and head over to California Adventure.

Friday Evening: Dinner at Ariel's Grotto and watch World of Color from there. Spend the rest of the evening at the park.

Saturday Morning (4-5 ish): Get up and get over to the parks for the Disneyland 5k. Meet up with Sammy and run it with her and my Mom.

Saturday Mid-Morning: After race and cleaning up head over to Disneyland for the day with Sammy.

Saturday around Noon: Birthday Party at Plaza Inn! (still in planning stages, and still nervous about making reservation, feel kind of silly for doing it but thought it would be fun)

Saturday Evening (6:30-7:30 ish): Head over to the Pavilion for the Pasta Feed Party. After eating hang out the park some more before going back to the hotel.

Sunday Morning (4 oclock ish): Get up, get dressed, and head over to the start area for the half.

Sunday Morning (9-10 ish): Sammy and I finish race. Go back to hotel get cleaned up.

Sunday Afternoon: Maybe go back to Disneyland?

Sunday Evening/Monday Morning: Fly back to Denver.

Yeah the plans are in flux right now. We don't even know what hotel we're staying at right now. And knowing my Dad, we are probably not going to know for a while. He has a tendency to put things off. I'm keeping fingers crossed that we maybe can spend a night or two on property so we can take advantage of the extra Disney hours Disneyland offers sometimes on the weekend (if they have them).

Thought I would post an update. So it looks my Dad will be joining us for the second time on a Disneyland half trip (he was here last year too). I was told to order two additional pasta tickets (not sure why two when we only needed one) which I did.

Unfortunately the afternoon after the Princess half at WDW my Mom said Dad wanted to join us for the 5k. I then had to break the news of the fact that not only was the half sold out so was the 5k. I felt bad about it since Dad is almost never in town for my races because of my work and would have been great to do the race with him but can one do in this situation?:confused3

Still no news on the hotel, I'm planning to talk to my parents in the next couple of days about booking the other plans for the race weekend. Meaning anything that requires a reservation that I can book (meaning Plaza Inn, BBB, and Ariels Grotto).
