Does anybody have a suggestion on how we can celebrate 5th grade graduation at Disney? :confused3

Here's where we are eating....

Le Cellier
Sci-Fi
Teppan Edo
Tusker House (dinner)
Chef Mickey's (breakfast)
50's Prime Time
Whispering Canyon Cafe

Do you know if any of these places will do something special? It's a REALLY big deal. DS11 has a learning disability but was still able (with lots of prayer, hard work and amazing teachers) to score 4's on his end of grade testing (that's the highest score)! We are so thankful and proud of him. We really want to celebrate...

THANKS! :flower3:

If it is a really big deal, then you need to arrange something special yourself. Everyone at Disney is celebrating something these days and special treats don't happen very often anymore.

Maybe order him a cake? Or give him extra souvenir money? When I was in 5th grade, just being at Disney was celebration enough!

Congrats on your son's score!

Thank you for the advice! :goodvibes

That's exactly what I want to do, but I'm just not sure how, when or what...

Can you get a special cake at Sci-Fi?

You can order a cake through the Grand Floridian bakery and have it delivered to any restaurant on property that you would like. Just be forewarned that they are pretty expensive and not very big.

I would suggest having some tshirt's made up for your entire family saying what you are celebrating and then maybe do the Family Magic Tour at the MK! It will be fun for you to all act like kids on Main Street and celebrate together! :thumbsup2

That's a really good idea. DS doesn't really like cake, but I was considering getting one just because I can't think of anything else to do. :confused3

Truly, in our family just GOING to WDW has always been huge treat, and we go at least once a year!

I've seen Le Cellier do a few small thigns, but I also wouldn't count on any place doing much spontaniously, especially if you are 'celebrating' all week. Your resort MIGHT do some small thing, like a card.

To second others, if having something specific is important, make it happen. You can oder stuff to be delivered to your room from Disney Florist. They will doo all kinds of things. They won't be in your room when you first check-in, but you can have them arrive the first DAY you are there. One idea is a balloon bouquet.

Lots of DISERS have also come up with ways to bring items with them. You can order all kinds of things via the Disney website or by visiting a Disney Store, or, if you'll have a car, even some place like Walmart or the Disney store. The Walmarts in the Orlando area all have 'Disney' mini-stores. The one just off 192 certainly does. It's almost difficult to find any store inthe Orlando area that DOESN't carry some Disney stuff. Another great place to to look for stuff is the Cahracter Outlet at the outlet mall. Look online for the correct one - there are multiple outlets in the Orlando area.
Another idea is to sign your son up for somehting like the pirate cruise, the the pirate makeover in MK: Pirate's League. They do face painting though, and in my opinion, face paint and 90 degrees is nothe the BEST combination.

Ft. Wilderness also has some neat activiteis like horseback riding and archery. POR and others have fishing or renting a boat as an option. You could also maybe thinkg about changing one night to one of the dinner shows: the Luau or Hoop de Doo. (I pick Hoop, since the luau can get cancelled in bad weather - like thunderstorms) Hoop is a lots of fun! AND if I recall correctly, at one point they DO call out names of folks who are celebrating something. They do several small things for audience participation if you want to join in the fun - so that would be a great idea.

Also you could simply give your son an allowance or gift card to spend as he chooses.

You can pick a day of celebration. We go every year to celebrate my husbands cancer free anniversary.. during the same week, we celebrate our son's birthday. My son's birthday falls during our week, but for my husband, we pick a day for him for his "celebration day". You can tell the restaurant that you are celebrating that day. You can ask them to treat it like a birthday and have them bring over a cupcake and candle and come sing.. (just throw in Happy Graduation rather than Happy Birthday).

if you wanted to really do something special.

I did this for my husband's first year. We all still talk about it. I had them do a scavenger hunt around Epcot. Totally fabulous.

When my son graduated fifth grade we left for a cruise the very next day and we picked up some "Congratulations Graduate" decor that we could fold flat and put in the luggage. We then had him go in our stateroom with Dad to help him decide what we'd do while his DD and I decorated his room with them.

You might also think about doing a scavenger hunt type thing with the them of "Fives" He can pick five attractions he'd like to do that day. Find five hidden mickeys. Jump in five fountains. Get creative and have fun,
