Celebrating my Un-Birthday Disney Style-April 2010-New 5/3 - The TR has started!

I checked with Tim :rolleyes1 & we are indeed rooting for the Saints! :cheer2: I guess I can agree with him on this one... he's a Yankees fan since he grew up in Southern CT, but he has become a Pats fan since he went to UNH.

:cheer2: I'd be very surprised if a Pats fan was rooting for the Colts. ;)

This morning was the 11th Annual Penguin Plunge to benefits Special Olympics NH. Tim was one of the lucky plungers! It was in the mid-20's today but felt like around 15 degrees with the wind. The water was about 40 degrees. The theme was Under the Big Top. There were some crazy costumes... Tim just went with this:

The rescue squad in their survival suits (They had to hang out in the water for over 30 minutes while all 4 heats of plungers hit the water):

The plungers lined up before the start:

And they're off!

Up next: Park Bags & More itinerary changes?

:cheer2: I'd be very surprised if a Pats fan was rooting for the Colts. ;)

I'll admit it, I only really watch games when they are my home team. It was quite clear today at the Penguin Plunge that all the Pats fans should be rooting for the Saints. The Colts got a big Boo!

:rotfl: No surprise to me! I don't normally enjoy games much if my teams aren't in them either, but I so want the Saints to beat the Colts.

Just looking at those pictures is making me shiver!!! :scared: Go Tim!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Brrr!!! I am sitting here in three layers and drinking hot tea and absolutely can't imagine going out into the ocean! Go Tim!!!

Wow!! That water looks cold...40 degrees...brrr..

As far as AP's go....I don't know too much about it but it looks like it will save you some money...especially if you can return in February like you are hoping!! :goodvibes

Wow...good for Tim! I'm cold just thinking about it!

Can't wait for the park bag post! I'm all about the bags! ;)

I am excited for the bag discussion! Any suggestions to use in replace of the fanny pack are always welcome! :)

It was a good game last night!!

It was really cold yesterday! The weather man said it was in the single digits with the wind chill! :scared:

This was Tim's third year... and it was the coldest one yet! :cold:

Notice I wasn't plunging into the ocean... :rolleyes1 He keeps asking when I'm going to do it too...

I think I'm going to go for the AP & hope we go in February/March. :thumbsup2

Hopefully it'll be coming right up!

Another fanny pack hater, huh? :sad2:

Way to go TIM!!! What a great cause! My brother did it last year here in Minnesota. Interested to see what your itinerary changes are Amy and more ADR's!!!:thumbsup2 Looking forward to your "park bag" post too, I am just starting to think about that as well...:goodvibes

Why we always feel the need to get a new park bag for each trip is beyond me,:confused3 but I’m sure part of it has to do with the desire to find the PERFECT park bag. Is there such a thing? I’ll walk you through my park bags from years past:

2007 -The baggallini was all the rage:

The problem with this bag was that you always had to wear is over the same shoulder and it was complicated to put on/take off.

2008 – I borrowed this purple backpack from my mom (pictured with my big camera bag):

It was OK, but backpacks are difficult because of the problem with changing my glasses frequently.

2009 – The Vera Bradley Hipster:

Like it, but it made my shoulders & collar bones hurt. I was able to alternate using this bag with another bag and it seemed to prevent the pain.

And then there is always the fanny pack… I have this old stand-by that has joined me on many WDW vacations:

And this one that DH bought me in 2007 when I was determined to NOT use a fanny pack so I hadn’t brought one along:

I liked this second one because it’s Disney, but it was stiff as a board so not as comfortable. Maybe I’ll go on a search for the PERFECT fanny pack this year…:rolleyes1

I also have this little bag that I’ve used for various day trips locally:

So what am I going to use this year? Here are the front runners:
A Vera Bradley backpack (not sure of the pattern yet - I just found this image in photobucket...):

A Kavu Keeper (similar style to the Nike bag above):

Here's a link to the website... not sure which pattern I like best?? :confused3

And of course the fanny pack will come along! :thumbsup2

BRRR!

what a great cause though, go Tim!

He's a good sport! :thumbsup2

Just posted the park bags... I'll work on the itinerary change update soon... nothing too serious!

Yay!! Park bags!!

I've never been a fan of the fanny pack. I've been known to wear one, but definitely not my first choice!

I got a VB hipster for my last trip, but found that it was just a little too small for what I needed. I ended up using my baggallini which I LOVE to this day.

I really like the Kavu bag. And I think the pattern you have posted is my favorite. But....I like the VB backpack too. It's big though...and like you said, backpacks aren't so easy to access at a moment's notice.

I'll be interested to find out what you decide! :goodvibes

I agree with Missy about the hipster (and I have the exact same one as Amy). I love it and use it as my every day purse, but it just doesn't hold enough. I'll probably be looking for a new bag for my January trip. :rolleyes1

I have been thinking the VB backpack for my own trip, so I would lean towards that. However, I am intrigued by the Kavu bag -- I think I would have to see it in person to decide for sure.

I need to check out the Vera backpacks some more - they do seem a bit big & the glasses will still be a problem.

You're right - the hipster seems big, but doesn't hold a lot. I guess it just doesn't open very wide... :confused3

I have been thinking the VB backpack for my own trip, so I would lean towards that. However, I am intrigued by the Kavu bag -- I think I would have to see it in person to decide for sure.

I think the reason I like the Kavu bag is because it's so similar to the Nike bag, but seems a bit bigger. I have to look at the measurements again...

Park bags!!:woohoo:

I'm in the process of trying to find a new park bag for our April trip as well...so many decisions!!!:rolleyes1 I've used a backpack (too bulky), and yes, I have used a fanny pack. It's so great to be hands free but I wish they would make them much more stylish...is that even possible??:rotfl:

Love your VB Hipster....but it looks a little small for what I would need.:confused3

Oh..I really like the Kavu bag! I'll have to check out the website!!:thumbsup2

love the pictures of your bags!! It really helps me out with choosing which one I should bring. I really like the Vera Bradley one out of the two that you posted! Let us know what you choose!!
