Leaving in the morning with DS 25 for some much needed WDW therapy.

In a year already filled with stress and turmoil, our family suffered some major losses in the past six months- 2 brothers, an aunt and an uncle. (none Covid related ) Planning for this trip has been such a wonderful distraction. This forum has been so incredibly helpful. And, I thank all who have shared their experiences and advice. Thanks to all of you, I'm prepared as I can be. I'm no stranger to WDW, but due to the heat and Covid, I really planned out this visit.

Doing an 8 night split stay GF/YC. First stay at each. Got some great dining reservations (Cali Grill, Sanna, Chef de France, Liberty Tree for the DS, The Wave, and Shula's). Planning on stopping at Geyser Point, Abracadabra, Ale & Compass and Enchanted Rose lounges. And, looking forward to food at Flower and Garden.

Aside from park reservations, this trip was planned around dining, beverages, and the pool. Lol On that note, I also got a poolside patio at GF. I am so excited.

An entire week dedicated to and excitement is just what the doctor ordered. I'll do my best to do my part, and give some daily updates.

Sounds like a perfect birthday! I love trips that are just grill and chill! Hope you have a great time.

Can't wait to read all about it...is the pool side patio just a ground floor room near the pool or some sort of cabana rental at the pool area?

The poolside patio is a rental umbrella, seating, and lounge chairs at the quiet pool at Grand Floridian. There is a picture on the resort page.

Day 1 trip report. Fifth day into our trip, and first chance to update. So things are going well! Including pics of DS, and food and drink from Enchanted Rose.
Our travels began around 4:30 am on Sunday 6/20. We traveled to The Parking Spot, and shuttled to the airport. Our Southwest flight was trouble free and arrived early. We scooted on over to baggage claim, and then a quick trip to DME. There was a line. We waited about 25 minutes. Our resort, GF, was the last drop off.

Arrived at GF, and got some pixie dust. Our room was upgraded from garden to lagoon view (pic included). It wasn't ready yet, so we left our bags with bell services, I got my bday pin, and off to MK we went via the walkway.
We were shocked by how low the crowds were- especially for Father's Day. If at all possible, I am always going to begin at MK with Peter Pan. We had a 25 minute wait, and off we went. We followed that up with Small World, then Big Thunder Mountain, and Splash Mountain. Then into our Liberty Tree reservation. We ended MK with Pirates. Pretty good for a partial day.

Our room was ready. So we quickly changed and visited The Enchanted Rose for dinner. It was a great first day! And, we were feeling the magic.
