The thread about b'day cakes makes me wonder.
I will be at disney about 2 weeks before my bday.
I would loooove to be able to celebrate an early b'day...
cuz I think disney is the best place in the world to celebrate b'days... :cloud9:

Has anyone ever done anything like that?
If yes, what'd you do and how did it turn out?

Anybody looked at you funny?
Asked you for proof? (hehe... ID?)

Thanks everyone for your help! :wave2:

My husband and I are actually doing that this year. His birthday is August 24th, but we're going to be in WDW August 3-8. We originally were going to go so that his birthday would fall during our trip, but he's in seminary right now and this year they moved the class start date by nearly 2 weeks (he starts on the 8/15 this year), so going ON his birthday was a no-can-do. But since a birthday trip was what we originally planned for, we're still going to go with that "theme." His family never made a big deal out of his birthday (not even when he was a kid) and several times they made him feel bad about it being his birthday....so this time we're celebrating in style. I figure that if Disneyland can celebrate it's birthday for a full 18 months (and start the celebration 2 months before it's actual birthday), then there's nothing wrong with me celebrating my husband's birthday 2 weeks early.

Lots of people do it and no one asks for id, so if you are comfortable with it, go for it. :)

Personally, I couldnt do it when we arrived in WDW 2 days after my DS's birthday. We had planned to "celebrate" his birthday there and then we all felt funny when the time came.

But, like I said, thats an individual decision and I know I'm in the minority on this one. ;)

an anniversary, birthday, engagement etc.. We were at the Poly Conc. desk when a family was complaining about the lack of "stuff" that was done for them in regard to a child's birthday. They were also upset that they didn't get their room request in light of the birthday. The supervising CM was very kindly explaining that nearly everyone in the building was having a celebration while down at Disney and they just couldn't arrange for all of the requests from this family. So, it seems that it is quite okay to have early or late birthdays or whatever you'd like. I think WDW is used to that. I'm with CamColt in that we're not comfortable with either ourselves or the kids having unofficial celebrations but it seems almost everyone else is just fine with it. Hey, whatever works for you is just great and know you'll be in good company. Have a wonderful trip. Threehearts

I have to agree that lots of people celebrate their birthdays, anniversaries and such early and late while on vacation - We had to laugh the morning we had Bfast at Check Mickeys - there was atleast one person at every table in our section that were celebrating bdays - how do I know - each table but ours got a cupcake with candle for the celebration song. I can't imagine that every single one of those peoples birthday was that exact day - LOL I think some people must celebrate everyday they are on vacation reguardless if it is their actual bday or not.

Hehe... I was thinking of getting those happy b'day button while I'm there. But since it's not technically my real bday I feel kinda weird.
I might still order a bday cake though... just to make me feel better... LOL!!!
Am I sad or what? :teeth:

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I'm with mking ... I say "go for it" .... celebrate your birthday in style! Order a cake! The official day may have passed or will be coming up but the celebration can take place another time. I've helped several people celebrate their birthdays or anniversaries on dates other than the true dates due to one reason or another. I'm sure you have too. What's the difference? True, there are people who will abuse the situation but for some of us, this may be the only time we can celebrate.

We are going to WDW a couple of weeks before my husband's birthday and our anniversary (Sept. 29 & 30). I would love to take off during the "official" dates but due to heavy work schedules, this would not be possible. We were lucky to grab a long weekend as it is (the calm before the storm.) I just happened to see a great rate from SWAirlines offering RT to Orlando at 50% of the going rate. I told my husband that since we couldn't celebrate our special dates due to work, why not celebrate in style at WDW during this window of opportunity. He was just happy to get away. Now, I don't expect anything special from Disney. I don't even know what they "offer" for special occasions. It doesn't matter....we'll have a good time.

Eat some cake for us and enjoy your birthday at one of the happiest places on Earth! :earboy2:

Thanks Escape... :teeth:
I think I will get meself some cake.

I'll let you know how the cake from WLV tastes... :jumping1:

I'm in the "enjoy your cake and go for it" camp!

Really, if you think about it, many birthdays (and other events) are celebrated other than the actual date. Today, we are going to DD7's friend's bday party, and her birthday isn't until July 5. (They'll be on vacation then.) Last year, when DD turned 6, we had her party on January 30, two-and-a-half weeks after her actual birthday. (We were at WDW for the actual day and then she was sick.) So, it happens all the time--at home and WDW. Personally, I think the world and all of its inhabitants need more celebrations!

I love birthday cake, so have a bite for me, please! :teeth:

We'll be celebrating 2 birthdays while we're there. My dd's 3rd birthday is actually during our vacation and my mother's 60th is only 4 days after we get back. We don't live near my parents so I'm going to surprise mom with a birthday celebration for her. My b-day is the week before we leave but we won't celebrate it there.

Go for it, My oldest granddaughter was to be in DisneyWorld for her birthday, then cam 9/11. Needless to say,she didn't make it. It was another 2 yrs. before they were able to go. We were in DW a week after her birthday, and you can bet we sure did celebrate it then. We did Chef Mickey, and she got the badge at City hall. It was great.
Next year I plan to take my grandson to celebrate his 12th birthday, Have decided to give each of the 7 this as their 12th birthday presents. Because of school, they will each be going in June after the school year. Do I plan to celebrate their birthday there? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what I plan to do in two years.

One of my oldest friends and I are planning a trip for December, 2007 to celebrate our 40th birthdays. Mine is August and her's is late December, but we will be 'celebrating' the whole time.

Thanks everyone!
I will have my cake and eat it too!!!
Even if it's 2 weeks early... :teeth:

I booked the disney cruise for my mom's 50th birhtday last year. her birthday was actually nov. 27. On Nov. 19th, we had the suprise party where she found out about it and we left on Nov. 26. We did not board the ship until Nov. 28th and celebrated her b-day one night while on ship. We ended the cruise with a weekend at dw and continued the celebration there....it became a joke that she was celebrating 50 days of her 50th birthday!!!
Go ahead, make it a birthday to remember. You can pick him up a suprise to let him open on his actual birthday....that would be special too.

DH & I will be aboard the Disney Magic in Sept. celebrating 30 years of marriage. Our actual 30th anniversary is in July. Summer time is always the busiest time of the year for me so to celebrate in style in July is not possible. In addition, we will be at the Poly in Dec. celebrating our return to our honeymoon place :love2: thirty years later! DH's birthday will be two weeks later. I may order him at cake!
