We will be celebrating DS's third birthday while in WDW. He will be 2 when we check in (12/09) so we don't have park tix or DDP for him. My question is... if we have a birthday cake or something on his actual birthday (12/20) and we tell them he's three, will we be charged for his meal? Will we have trouble getting him into the parks? I have absolutely no problem with paying for his meal (in fact, we probably will be doing a lot of paying OOP for meals at CS and TS that aren't buffets). But for his birthday breakfast, we have ADRs for Cape May Cafe (a buffet) and dinner ADRs for Chef Mickey's (also a buffet). Just wondering if we should expect to have to pay for his buffet meals?

Thanks so much!

Just to say we are in the same position and will be celebrating our youngest son's 3rd Birthday while we are there and have an ADR for Crystal Palace dinner for him.

We wondered the same thing?

If your child is 2 at the start of your vacation, then you will not have to pay for their meals and/or tickets for the entire vacation. So, if you go to a buffet meal, like Cape May or CM's, then they can get their own plate of food and you don't have to pay an additional cost. If you go to a non buffet meal, then your child can share your meal w/ you at no additional cost.

We did the same exact thing last year. My son turned 3 during our trip. (It was great getting one last trip in while he was free!) So anyway, he was considered 2 for the entire trip, no problems at all. Enjoy! It's fun when they have their actual birthday in WDW! :goodvibes

Thank you so much! That's what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure!

We are very excited about celebrating his birthday in WDW. We celebrated his "half birthday" just a couple of days ago, seeing as how his "real" birthday is so close to Christmas... Anyway, he asked when we were going to go and see Mickey because we've been telling him he gets to spend his third birthday with Mickey Mouse! :cool1:

Aw, that's great! You know it's funny though, after that birthday trip for my son, he expected that EVERY trip we'd be celebrating his birthday there!! LOL The next two times we went he asked if we were. And I told him no, not this time sweetie. He just LOVED having his birthday there! It was really special! :)

I hope your son's birthday trip is wonderful!! :wizard:

My son will also turn 3 at the world. Our check in is 12/10 but his birthday is 12/12 and we had to purchase park tickets, the deluxe dining plan and an airline ticket for him. Are you sure that they consider them 2 for the entire trip??? I'm beginning to think I should call someone!

You need to call someone! Your airfare is different, but if you child starts their Disney vacation as a 2yr old, they are considered 2 for their whole trip! Who told you to purchase a park pass and the dining plan? They gave you very bad info!!!

I can DEFINITELY see this happening! :rotfl2:

We had to purchase an airline ticket for DS, but we didn't have to purchase any park tix or dining plan. He is, however, listed as a guest on our reservation. Definitely call back and have them change it for you!

I will call first thing in the morning and let you guys know how it goes! I booked my trip through WDW online, but first I called and talked to someone through Disney travel. They told me to book him at 3 so that he would get the dining plan with us! Here he didn't need it!!!!

Okay, so I just got off the phone with Disney. They told me that I can change my DS to a 2 year old and he will be considered that for the length of the stay. So for that reason, he will not need a park ticket but he will not eat free. He will have to eat off of my plate or I will have to OOP buy him a meal. So, the total of the park ticket and DDP is about $400 for my DS, that includes three meals a day, two snacks, and one refillable mug. I can save that and pay for him OOP for 9 days to eat or spend the $400 and have my trip paid for and not worry about it. Opinions???
