I posted this on the "Community Board," but think it might fit better here, in the "Tips" section.

Hi! This is my first post here on the DISboards, I just registered this morning and I'm not quite sure where to post this, but here goes.

My little brother will be working for the Disney College Program from mid-August until January. He is going to be very good friends with some of the Disney Characters and we are so proud of him!

The only sad part is that he will be gone from home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Due to the nature of some family members jobs we are unable to take vacations from November until January, which leaves just two short months (September and October) when we can visit.

We do have a vacation planned in October which we are all so excited about!

I do need some help, though. My mother has had a photo taken of her kids (all four of us) with Santa every Christmas for the past 25 years. This will be the first Christmas that our brother won't be able to be home. We are trying to think of some creative ways to implement a "Christmas in Disney" for our family when Disney is celebrating Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween.

Does anyone on the DISboards have any suggestions for getting creative down in the happiest place on earth? We'd love to give our Mom a Christmas experience she won't forget!

Welcome to the DIS!!!
First of all, obviously someone should dress as Santa for Halloween so Mom can have her picture!!!:santa:
It would also be fun to take a small tree (I did for Christmas last year, little 2 footer), and decorate the room for Christmas instead of Halloween.
Sounds like lots of fun. We'll be there at Halloween too, but we'll be celebrating Halloween, not Christmas - we were there for Christmas last year. Have a great time!

I'm not sure if you will heading to DTD, but there is a spot decorated for Christmas that most people take a picture to use for Xmas cards. (We took pics but my husband didn't want to use them for Xmas :confused3). I think it might be near the Christmas shop (don't quote me on that though). There is a Christmas tree and Goofy statue. I think there is also a banner that says Merry Christmas on it. So you may not have the Santa pic but you could definitely get a Christmas pic.

Wow. Thanks so much for all of the suggestions.

We are definitely going to have to take advantage of the Downtown Disney photo spot - I know my mom doesn't know anything about it (she's not a big Downtown Disnery fan!). I do have a Santa Suit that I was thinking of bringing along with me - and just asking a fellow vacationer to put it on to surprise our mom with.

Since my brother is going to be a CM I'm sure a CM friend of his will be able to help us out.

Your suggestions have been great, I really appreciate it!
